Gang of Eight Can't Defend Their Own Bill
Creators Syndicate ^ | June 4, 2013 | Phyllis Schlafly

The Gang of Eight can't defend the Gang's own amnesty bill, S.744, or even explain it to public or TV audiences. The Gang's premier salesman, Senator Marco Rubio, admits that it isn't acceptable in its present form and must be amended on the Senate floor.

Public opinion surveys show that the American people want the border secured and current laws enforced before we even discuss amnesty. The Gang's promise that amnestied aliens must pay back taxes is a fraud because neither aliens nor employers have documentation for the years the illegal was paid in cash.

The Gang of Eight bill doesn't make any pretense of securing the border first. S.744 gives us only promises, promises and pie-in-the-sky plans, but no reason to believe any of them because all our government's promises about border security, implementation of an entry-exit system and workplace verification of employee identity have been repeatedly and flagrantly broken. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on us.

The Gang of Eight bill allows the Obama administration to decide which laws to enforce. Every S.744 provision allows Obama bureaucrats to issue waivers to avoid enforcement, a wrinkle that fits perfectly with Obama's governing style, i.e., rule by executive-branch regulations instead of by constitutional legislation.

S.744 weakens the never-enforced electronic entry/exit system that the 1996 law requires to be used at all seaports and airports and was funded by Congress five times. S.744 guts this law by excluding 106 land border-entry points where most crossings take place.

S.744 will continue to increase our current illegal population. The Gang of Eight bill not only fails to enforce federal law against giving college-tuition preference to illegal aliens (which Obama unconstitutionally violated by executive order), but it also guarantees states right to offer in-state tuition to future illegal aliens.

When conservatives were being targeted by the IRS for 2 years - and pleading for help - Marco Rubio and John McCain were off holding hands with illegals.

Rubio and McCain didn't care about everyday Republicans - didn't care what was happening to us. Leno's cared more. Jon Stewart's cared more... Republicans were too busy to see what the IRS was doing to us.

Does anyone here think democrats would let the IRS target gays or blacks or union members - for two years? And ignore their calls for help?

The GOP might be surprised when we dump them too...

Interesting read on The Ulsterman Report about this bill and how the dems are using the Republicans—as we all know. Rubio can’t figure it out though.

All it should take is a focused effort to bring pressure on senators vulnerable in the midterm elections. This is a VERY unpopular bill.

Senator Marco Rubio, admits that it isn't acceptable in its present form and must be amended on the Senate floor.

And what makes Rubio think that Ried will even allow amendments?

If they allow this to get to the floor, it'll just be hijacked by the 'rats.

Re: “The Democrats want this issue for the 2014 elections.”

Yes, they do.

But it is Win-Win Democrats, either way.

If the House rejects Amnesty, then Dems do their “Racist” chant for the next 12 months.

If Amnesty passes the House, then La Raza and the ACLU will go into lawsuit hyper drive.

Every Conservative “protection” written into the bill - things like the 13 year delayed citizenship and welfare denial - will be overturned by Leftist federal judges.

Try to imagine a televised debate in 2014 where some Republican congressman explains why starving immigrant children should not get Food Stamps!

That will not happen!

If Amnesty passes, the GOP-e will give the illegals and the Democrats everything they want, including the right to vote by the 2016 election.

It's out of committee and will make it to the floor when Dingy Harry decides the time is right.

And it's already been hijacked by the 'Rats.

Yes young Marco Rubio, Harry Reid will manage the bill on the floor and the Democrat majority will control the amendment process. What could possibly be wrong with that?

They think just having McPain and Graham out front is all that is required. So do people in AZ and SC, it seems.

Senator Rubio must be incredibly naïve unlike most of the hardened liberals in FL.

The McLaughlin Group predicted 70 votes for the liberals this weekend, and I would imagine it could be more.

Sadly so many of these folks are themselves uninformed and unable to discern.

Rubio can’t figure it out though.

McPain and Graham know what they are doing, but is Rubio that dense? Maybe Rubio is just a cute face and no substance.

RRE :”Chamber of Commerce lobbyists are advocating a “let the market decide” policy, i.e., who and how many people can come to work in the United States. This actually undermines U.S. sovereignty and the right of our people to make such decisions that will determine our future.
The “let the market decide” argument is extremely hypocritical. In a free market, a labor shortage raises wages, but the lobbyists want to jimmy the system by creating an artificial overabundance of labor in order to enable corporations to pay lower wages to those who come from low-wage countries and are glad to work for low pay without American-style benefits.
S.744 would impose a massive unfunded mandate on U.S. taxpayers that will require us to increase taxes or incur more debt or both. That's because those 11 million amnestied aliens will receive $9.4 trillion in government services over their lifetime, but pay only $3.1 trillion in taxes for a net cost of $6.3 trillion”

Market my a...
We have/had had a huge immigration influx into Maryland and the Dems here in total charge have raised every tax they can think of in result.

That's no market when they can vote for free stuff.

” Learned nothing from the Obamacare debacle. Do you remember the only “hearing” of that was a senate committee where they “marked up” the bill?

We are not living in a smart country any longer. This crap is just plain dumb.”

You are discounting evil intent. People supporting amnesty ALL know what it will do to America. They have been bought off(McCain,Graham, Flake,et.al.,) or see something in it for themselves(Rubio, and future hispanic votes). These cretins are no more honorable than Pelosi or Reid.

1) They are not ever leaving.

Those who have committed no crimes?

The only way an illegal can survive here, is by serious fraud. How do they avoid..1) trespass

Identity theft

Identity fraud.

Credit identity fraud

Social Security fraud

(numerous other frauds)

Except that the 11 million figure is from 2002, so make that 12.6 TRILLION + NET COST!
