Former White House press secretary Robert Gibbs on Monday pushed back at House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issas (R-Calif.) claims that top officials from the IRSs Washington, D.C. office directed the targeting of conservative groups, calling the allegations unsubstantiated and shameful.
Republicans are on the verge of overplaying their hand publicly and the American people will quickly lose interest on their side in this, Gibbs said on MSNBCs Morning Joe. They want to see the IRS cleaned up, but they understand that Darrell Issa is doing nothing more than politicizing this event. To throw around the words liar and perjury as easily as he did is shameful.
Speaking on CNNs State of the Union on Sunday, Issa said his panel had conducted interview with IRS workers in the Cincinnati office that revealed they were being directly ordered from Washington.
This is a problem that was coordinated, in all likelihood, right out of Washington headquarters. We have subpoenaed documents that would support that, Issa said.

The only thing shameful about Issa’s charges are that not one single soul has yet been arrested. This will not end unless there are consequences to their actions.
Obama should hire Baghdad Bob.
He would be an improvement.
And more convincing.
Gibbs - does he realize how this scandal could push the nation over the edge to a civil war?
THE IRS STOLE THE 2012 ELECTION. THE GOVERNMENT IN POWER NOW IS ILLEGITIMATE BECAUSE OF THIS FACT.
Gibbs makes my skin crawl. I’d like to meet up with that worthless bum in a back alley. He is a poster child for what is wrong in DC. I can’t believe that creep went to Auburn.
Gibbs was probably in on this crime.
how does the word “treason” sound, then?
Gibbs, and Team O in general, are terrified about what is in those depositions.
They want to see everything, because otherwise they can’t coordinate their lies.
THAT is what this is all about, I think. I’m no lawyer, but I did used to watch Night Court.
with this administration this is a no brainer; same old ploy with these criminals in the WH, double down on their lies to get the press to carry the message and then hope their liberal supporters buy it thus divert attention and turn the table. What was that Sarah Palin said about lipstick on a pig?
1) 0bama LIED about what happened in Benghazi to lessen it's impact on HIS RE-ELECTION
2) 0bama used the IRS and other agencies to oppress his political opponents to aid in HIS RE-ELECTION
3) 0bama spied on the media to get intelligence for preempting bad press to assist in HIS RE-ELECTION.
This appears to be the latest talking point. I saw some dweeb on Judge Jeneane that was saying the same thing. “If they don’t watch it, they will lose more seats in the House and Senate, with all of these so-called scandals they’ve dreamed up.” And blah de blah. These people make me sick. They don’t even pretend they are not lying. they just keep going, full steam ahead. It is quite literally unreal.
So if this were an actual journalism publication why would the headline be the obfuscation from a former paid political firefighter? The real news is several paragraphs down where it is revealed that Issa has testimony from IRS agents that they were directed from Washington. Why isn’t this the headline?
Just getting warmed up there, Bobby!
How many viewer do they have? Maybe I could make up a baseball team?
5.56mm
Many, many questions come to mind, and I would wager that Mister Issa has some very nice surprises for the Obama WH as well as the IRS.

Memo to Gibbs: There is no way to overplay a Royal Flush.
Not true! They frog marched a low level employee in Cincinnati whose name was Mitzie. (Google: 'Mitzie Gate') It gave them cover while columnist Richard Cohen complained that poor, poor Mitzie was being used as a scapegoat by the likes of the evil Republicans like Issa who "demanded" that somebody had to be arrested.
Of course Cohen ignored the fact that DOJ, not Issa, chose who was to be arrested. And clearly Mitzie WAS scapegoated, but by the administration in a lame attempt to deflect attention from Washington. Cohen's column came out a couple of days prior to Lerner pleading the 5th, but that didn't keep some papers from running fresh copies of the column still hoping to hide the complicity of Washington and trying to keep it a "couple of rogue employees" affair.
