Been through tree tornados and soft ball size hail. My dog would not go in her dog house so I had to go get her, a soft ball size peice of hail hurts like hell when hit in the head! I was caught in the midle and had to go back for a trash can lid! Our poor dog was bruised from ear to tail!
Is all pretty exciting until it’s headed for your house.
Luckily we were always missed. When younger it was go outside to watch! But now it’s head for the root cellar.
“...the storm chasers, they’re doing it for publicity...money....”
That’s a sort of jaded take on this. These men who were killed were able to make some $ by doing their storm chasing but most folks don’t. And it’s extraordinary dangerous, as we’ve seen, to put one’s self into for that $.
I had a friend who was fascinated by meteorology and would go where, say, a hurricane was expected, simply because he loved to watch it unfold. He never made a dime on it.
I saw that, too. Shep is always nearly unbearable, but he was particularly annoying Friday evening.
Bingo. Dying from a tornado is the ultimate excitement. The ultimate high. There is no greater badge of courage for a tornado chaser. They died doing what they loved to do.
I’m a life long okie. Was never scared of storms until a couple of years ago. Lightening hit our house. Blew a hole in the roof etc. Makes me pretty nervous these days.
you are a heartless idiot
I remember years ago the made this probe that they wanted to be hit by a tornado. They dropped in front of numerous ones, but it was never hit?
RIP Storm chasers.

I used to storm chase kinda as a hobby. My brother and I. You need to own about a 1972 chevy pickup. You gotta plan on it getting beat up by the hail. And it better be 4 wheel drive. But it is really a rush to be out there and see that tornado start up.
I have seen them before. Really fascinating footage especially of some of the lightning.
I honestly did not think it was that dangerous as it seemed they could always just drive away from a tornado. I was once driving North of Tulsa and just on the edge of a town. A bunch of guys were standing in front of a filling station.
As I passed by they pointed North and there it was maybe a quarter of a mile away. A perfect tornado just like they show in the movies. I turned on the radio and listened as they tracked it. It did only minor damage to a couple of farm out buildings.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Queen Barry called a news conference to announce he has created 3 new jobs in the storm chasing industry.
We had golf ball sized hail fall on our house. It was amazing. I don’t know how to post pictures, or I would show you some.
It totaled out my car, and bought us 2 new roofs.
Go over to this FR HTML practice thread and you’ll be an expert in a few minutes.. You do need a host site for your photos also. Good Luck.

I rember a video made from and underpass a guy with some kids.
A suburban stopped just before the underpass and was hit by the twister. The man was killed and the surburban was tossed so hard the engine flew out of the engine comprtment!
One of the strangest things I ever saw was a rocking chair balanced on a 45 ft power pole crossarm, and a 20’ x 2’ steel I beam from a mall tied in an overhand knot!
I’d offer my condolences, but how can I do that and not have it interpreted that I somehow endorse their “Hey! Watch me stick this fork into the electrical outlet!” lifestyle.
In fact I’ll just come out and say it... these guys got the brains of a radish!
Ignorant and selfish - look what their self-aggrandizing fantasies have left their families with.
Ahole
