House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) revealed new testimony from IRS employees on CNN's State of The Union on Sunday. According to transcribed excerpts released by the Committee, a Cincinnati IRS employee made it clear they were told by Washington, D.C. personnel to give extra scrutiny to Tea Party groups:
Q: In early 2010, was there a time when you became aware of applications that referenced Tea Party or other conservative groups?
A: In March of 2010, I was made aware.
******
Q: Okay. Now, was there a point around this time period when [your supervisor] asked you to do a search for similar applications?
A: Yes.
Q: To the best of your recollection, when was this request made?
A: Sometime in early March of 2010.
******
Q: Did [your supervisor] give you any indication of the need for the search, any more context?
A: He told me that Washington, D.C., wanted some cases.
******
Q: So as of April 2010, these 40 cases were held at that moment in your group; is that right?
A: Some were.
Q: How many were held there?
A: Less than 40. Some went to Washington, D.C.
Q: Okay. How many went to Washington, D.C.?
A: I sent seven.
******
Q: So you prepared seven hard copy versions of the applications to go to Washington, D.C.?
A: Correct.
******
Q: Did he give you any sort of indication as to why he requested you to do that?
A: He said Washington, D.C. wanted seven. Because at one point I believe I heard they were thinking 10, but it came down to seven. I said okay, seven.

Oh the committee knows the names and has them written down. They’re just telling us just yet. It was nearly three years from the first investigation into the Watergate burglary until Nixon was on that last one-way trip to Yorba Linda.
It will all hit the fan eventually. When you have to coverup lies built on lies that are built on other lies eventually it all flies apart. If you start killing those involved that too becomes obvious. It’s hard to hide ten bodies. One body maybe.
oops two years — all right Issa let’s pick up the pace.
A whole bunch of people need to go to jail over this.
If Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, Were gonna punish our enemies and were gonna reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us, if they dont see that kind of upsurge in voting in this election, then I think its gonna be harder and thats why I think its so important that people focus on voting on November 2. Barack Obama
Thanks servo1969.
“Patience, my FRiend. This is testimony pre-released by the Committee.”
I agree. I don’t know why in this Internet-based world there is such pressure to get things “over” quickly. I, personally, would LIKE to keep a wounded Holder in place for the next three years. The Dem’s would just LOVE to see the country “move on” and get to important business, like shutting down more coal plants, more diverse immigration policies, subsidizing pinwheel-generated electricity, banning the chemicals in ammo, that sort of Important Government Business.
The wheels of justice will turn slowly - but I want to see some people ground very, very fine.
The low level employees are ticked at being thrown under the bus and are anxious to share what they know to prove they were just following orders.
Kudos to the woman who wanted out because she didn’t like what was going on. Hopefully, there are more people with integrity who will talk.
Obamacare passed on March 21, 2010. Leading up to that, Democrats were getting pounded by constituents at town hall meetings and the Tea Party fervor was reaching a fevered pitch. The fervor continued up until the Nov. elections when the GOP gained 60+ seats in the House.
The testimony indicates that the IRS started targeting conservatives in early March, 2010 - even before the final Obamacare vote.
Bing! Of course, under Issa, the rotation speed is glacial.
For me to get my hopes up I would have to see the MSM get on board. So far it ain’t happening. So its the old “Nothing to see here, move along”.
This will keep us busy most of the summer but nothing will come out of it other than an invigorated voting base for 2014.
Obamatollah is perfectly happy whether he gets impeached, not impeached, criticized, not criticized.
Because no matter what happens, he’s already done irreversible and massive damage to every pillar of America.
Much of it cannot be changed. Some of it can’t even be reduced.
Best part of the (unavoidable) Marxist collapse in any Socialist country is watching the true believers freak out.
At first they go silent in disbelief that their “god” aka Obamatollah has turned out to be a common crook.
Then they get depressed. Then they throw tantrums and scream.
Another nice side effect is I’ve gone 72 hours without being called “racist” or hearing them blame Bush.
This is the most fun you can have without a carload of strippers.
Irritates me too.
For reasons know only to himself, Issa or his staff have redacted the names, which is really not necessary. The person is stating what she remembers, and whether it is later verified or not, it's still part of the record.
For whatever it's worth, the people relaying the D.C. orders will flatly deny that they did so. Straight up lie. A perjury-rich environment!
We’re looking at the tip of an iceberg.
Of course, they did. But that part of the Q & A isn't shown -- probably because they have yet to interview those names.
Note that each of the exchanges in the Q&A are snippets -- the ledes (...) indicating an exclusion.
Of course they should. Only then would future similar episodes be discouraged.
Anyone who committed this should be in jail.
No one is immune from doing things against the law, regardless of whether given an order from above to do so.
