Lotta gun owners gonna become criminals on 1/1/14, either deliberately or from being uninformed about these draconian new bans. Even .22 semi-auto rifles like the Ruger 10/22 and Marlin 60 are not exempt.

Isn’t a special tax, targeted at encumbering the exercise of a Constitutional right, just sort of, illegal. Wouldn’t that be like a poll tax?

“....those who own such weapons to register them with the state.”
.
And get ready for confiscation of those rifles and any other firearms deemed necessary by the state.

To think I lived in LA for twenty years. Leaving there is akin to “Escape from NY City”.
I seriously despise these fools.

Californians who want to buy ammunition would have to submit personal information and a $50 fee for a background check by the state, under a bill passed by the Senate.Let me guess: since there would then be a $50 fee to buy ammo, no one would ever buy single boxes ever again, but only by the case (to divide the cost of the fee). At which point, they can then be claimed to be 'stockpiling' and made subject to confiscation, etc.

Doesn’t making thousands of gun owners criminals retro-actively violate some Ex Post Facto legal provision?

It is impossible to beat communists. They have California and the rest of the Country under their communists control and no way to stop it. So enjoy being a slave to the new America.

I always figured that when the voters of Cali turned down Prop 15, (to ban handguns in California) back in 1982 it meant that all handguns were still legal no matter how many cartridges they held. To me, that means the firearm itself along with it’s magazines and ammo.
It appears the politicians have been working trying to find a way around the voter’s rejection of the handgun ban.
