PETER J. SAMPSON, STAFF WRITER, The Bergen Record reports that seven latinos scammed the US Treasury out of $2M using fake/forged ID's. Lourdes Ortiz, 40, of Ridgewood, and Gloria Rivera, 39, of the Bronx, were both U.S. Postal Service employees who allegedly accepted bribes to divert refund checks from their Queens, NY mail route ....... Fausto Bernard, 48, of Newark, was arrested by postal inspectors, IRS agents and the Secret Service. Luis Pena, 43, of Yonkers, N.Y., was arrested Tuesday night.
Also charged were Raymundo Hernandez, 34, of the Bronx, who is currently jailed on other charges; Wellington Feliz, 30, and Isaias Hernandez, 38, both of the Bronx remain at large.
According to the complaint, from December 2011 to April the defendants executed a classic stolen identity refund scheme using personal identifying information, such as Social Security numbers and dates of birth, from unwitting individuals.
They filed fraudulent 1040 tax return forms using the stolen identities and falsified wage information to generate refund checks that were mailed to addresses along a mail route they controlled.The checks were then cashed and spent on various personal expenses, including gambling in Atlantic City and purchasing cars.

A drunken New Mexico man faces multiple charges after he crashed his car while having sex, ejecting the woman from the vehicle.
The Albuquerque Journal reports 25-year-old Luis Briones was found with one shoe on and his shorts on inside-out Monday night after he wrecked his Ford Explorer in Albuquerque.Police say Briones' female passenger was found naked outside the SUV after being ejected. She had deep cuts to her face and head.
Authorities allege Briones tried to drive away after the crash and leave his passenger behind, but a witness grabbed his keys from the ignition.
He also allegedly tried to hide from responding officers behind a cactus and refused to keep his pants on when he was in the back of the police car.
