Two children were cited by police for disorderly conduct on Monday after they pointed a toy gun at several passing cars, according to West Shore Regional Police.

A 12-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy were involved in the incident, which occurred around 6:30 p.m. in the first block of Market Street in Lemoyne, police said.

The two children were found by police walking in the 300 block of South Front Street in Wormleysburg after someone called police and reported the incident.

Several vehicles were slowing and stopping as the children pointed the plastic gun in the direction of approaching cars.

I guess the days are over for playing games like Cowboys and Indians, Cops and Robbers or War. The person who called the police is the one who should have been arrested, and the officer that cited these kids with disorderly conduct needs to learn to talk to kids instead of giving them records.

BTW, this occurred in a very low crime area.

Begs the question: Are toy guns legal or not?

My first “toy” gun was a real junk .410 single shot with a wooden dowel driven down the barrel and welded shut.

I used to guard prison inmates working in the field right up against our yard.

Me and my sidekick used to guard the mail, accompanying the Postman on his rounds.

The days are over when a song could have a lyric like this:

From This Is All I Ask

Beautiful girls walk a little slower when you walk by me
Lingering sunsets stay a little longer with the lonely sea
Children everywhere when you shoot at bad men shoot at me
Take me to that strange enchanted land grown-ups seldom understand

Only if registered are toy guns allowed.

Which why I have tinted windows! Then again, parents need to teach kids the proper way of play...but playing Cowboys and Indians sure was fun as a kid!

Be grateful they didn’t send out a SWAT team to shoot them!

Thank goodness they were not walking the family dog at the same time....the dog would have been shot and the kids cited....

As far as the left is concerned, Americans cannot
be trusted with these high capacity lead delivery systems.

This wasn’t tolerated by parents around here even in the 1960’s anymore than throwing rocks at moving vehicles were.
Kids needed to learn to respect others and their property, drivers don’t need the distractions. Playing Cowboys and Indians or wargames between themselves, no problem.

What? They didn’t need to wait until they were fired on twice?

I love a pithy response as much as the next man but the police involved should be sacked. End of. They clearly lack the perception and judgment that are vital especially in a life-threatening situation.

I used to play ‘Army’ at my friend’s house. He had closets full of toy guns to choose from. As I got older, I realized that these ‘toy’ guns were quite real...I mean valuable relic type real. I have no idea why his dad (who was a history teacher and fascinated with war relics) let us run around with them.

I think gun safety attitudes have changed considerably over the years. Today people are pretty picky (Wisely) about a finger on the trigger unless you plan to pull it but looking at photos throughout history shows lots of fingers on the trigger for photographic purposes.

Pardon me:

The person who called the police is the one who should have been  arrested  laughed at, and then slapped (hard) !
