As most readers are now aware, technology giant Apple Inc. has in the past few days been the recipient of juvenile attacks from U.S. Senators on both sides of the political aisle. Its alleged misdeed: the legal shielding of overseas earnings from corporate taxation stateside.

If you did away with Free Trade, and returned to competitive tariffs....Apple would never be punished for conducting business in America. Free Trade requires Income Taxes to raise revenue. Something neither our government, nor the author, quite comprehend

Do you have a definition of “free trade”? It’s not clear what you mean. Also, are you a union dockworker or have you ever been in a union?
The problem for Apple is that it is a gloBULL corporate entity, and they want to maintain the trappings of a US company, benefiting from the social and military spending of the US taxpayer. Id rather pay workers here to build Apple products than welfare to the unemployed. I buy an I-phone maybe every 5 years, at a 5-10% discount due to slave labor, but I pay INCOME TAXES EVERY YEAR. So what' s the better bargain?
