(CBS) SEBASTIAN, Fla. - A Florida state attorney says the charges against Kaitlyn Hunt, an 18-year-old high school student who engaged in a same-sex relationship with a 14-year-old classmate, will not be dropped, despite petitions from the public, CBS affiliate WTSP reports.
Hunt has been expelled from Sebastian River High School in Sebastian, Fla. and is charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious battery of a child 12 to 16 years of age as a result of the relationship.
The case began in February when Hunt was arrested and charged after the younger girl's parents notified authorities, reportedly when Hunt turned 18. Since then, the story has garnered national attention for what some say is a gay rights issue.

The younger girls mother should have stopped her daughter from dating another girl before it got to them having sex together.
I think the younger girls mother knew they were having sex and could not control her daughter, so she waited until the older girl was 18 and reported it.
BIG liars.
I don’t think they knew. A coach (maybe the basketball coach?) discovered what was going on.
well, we all get to think what we want
Having said that, the homosexual lobby is going to use this to advance their agenda.
If the 18 year old is found not guilty, they will throw it in everybody's faces ("the right wing homophobic prosecutor was rightly put in his place")
If the 18 year old is found guilty, she will become a "cause celebre" of the left. She will be sympathetically profiled on the tv talk shows (e.g., The View), the story will be reported as eeeeeevvvvviiiiilllll proprietorial over-reach by all the MSM news, and talking heads will champion her as the successor to their current poster-boy "Matthew Shepard" (that homosexual drug pusher who was killed in a drug deal that went bad).
Eventually, many state legislatures and, if Congress goes (D) again -- or if Boehner remains speaker -- Congress will pass a "Kaitlyn's Law" to ensure nobody else is ever "persecuted" like she was, again.
You have got to realize that is the glideslope.
Exactly. If it’s legally fine at one moment, and then a minute later, it’s illegal because someone just TURNED 18, there’s a problem with the law, and it’s application.
If the girl was 18 when the relationship STARTED, that would be, at least legally, an entirely different story. . . but if it started while she was still 17, it’s effectively (although not literally) an ex post facto prosecution. . .
“The younger girls parents went to the police after learning from a coach, school employees and students that their daughter was having a relationship, according to a report from the Indian River County Sheriffs office. The parents information led to the investigation.”
That isn't the way the story reads.
That’s because the only people speaking about the case are the perp’s parents, who are liars.
Golly. A story was written without all the available information.
I imagine they would after it went public.
Age of consent in FL appears to be 17, since she was charged w/ lewd behavior w/ a minor aged 12-16.
Pedophilia rights is the coming cause for liberals.
Jesus would NOT have allowed any sort of a life-wrecking punishment over this one and, apparently, Anonymuos is not going to allow it either. They've threatened to shut this town and school district down and they ARE capable of that.
Yep, male or female. Stay away, or I will make you stay away.
Simple as that.
Who are you to speak for Jesus?
Jesus said to follow the law unless it contradicted God’s law.
4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? 6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. 7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. 8 And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. 9 And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. 10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? 11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.
That has nothing to do with this situation. You can go ahead and let homosexual predators molest your kids. I’d throw the book at them.
Perhaps the parents were disturbed to find out that their 14 yr old daughter was involved in a sexual relationship, let alone with an adult, let alone supposedly safe at school, let alone in a stall in the public restroom at said school, let alone with a woman.
Let's be clear. At 18 you are an adult. You are able to vote, join the military, sign a contract, buy tobacco, buy a rifle, do big people's stuff.
At 14 you have to ask your parents to rent you "101 Dalmatians".
