Obama, Clinton, and John F Kerry who served in Vietnam worked to give these "rebels" $30,000,000 in aid.

During the sequester.

Epic fail.

Watching Assad fight Al Qaeda in Syria is like watching the ant war when you shovel a mound of red ants on top of a fire ant bed.

No matter who wins there are fewer ants left to bite you.

They - the Syrian so-called “opposition” - shows their true colors and the true card they have been playing all along, from before they were even introduced to the world’s public.

Who is the primary Middle East source of funds and support for the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood and the entire “opposition” movement? Saudi Arabia (home and sponsor of the radical fundamentalist Wahabi sect of Sunni Islam). Why? Two reasons.

Who is Assad? He’s a secular Muslim of the Alawite sect of Sunni Islam. Who are the Alawites? They are “heretics”, according to most other sects of Sunni Islam, including the Wahabi. Maybe now you see why Assad, though an opponent of the state of Israel, like other Arab states, was never of best of friends with the Saudis.

So, given Syrian relative isolation among many other Arabs in the region, who did Assad make friends with? The regime in Iran. And who leads the regime in Iran? Another set of radical fundamentalist cleric theocrats - Shia Muslim theocrats - on the opposite side of Islam from the Wahabi-Sunni.

What has the “Syrian conflict” been from day one?

It’s proxy war within Islam between two separate and divided radical fundamentalist camps within Islam, each vying for Islamic supremacy in the region.

Assad - his dictatorship - was and is an excuse, not a cause (what do you legitimately call the King of Saudi Arabia if not a despot), and the people of Syrian are and will be the victims, including the victims of some victorious “rebellion” if that comes to pass.

The U.S. is again being played for a sucker (like we were when we helped the Saudis and Pakistan create the Taliban and arm the Mujahadeen in Afghanistan) in the name of “U.S. national interest.” History is just repeating itself in Syria.

Just reading that headline one can easily grasp that these Islamic chappies have a lot of anger management issues to get under control before they can consider themselves “self-governing”.

Whose insane idea was it to break up the Ottoman Empire and turn these barbarians loose, anyway?

To be clear, the call for genocide - a war crime - was declared by a member of the American and NATO backed Free Syrian Army govt and not the al-Qaeda branch of the rebels.

Theis man who declared genocide represents the rebel side Senator John McCain wants to arm and use American air power to help.

It can be argued that every senator who voted for arming the so called Free Syrian Army is now culpable for aiding and abetting genocide.

This is why I keep saying we should support Assad.
We should apologize to the Russians and back them in their support of Assad. We should be willing to do anything to make sure the “rebels” their supporters, and their camp-followers are completely exterminated.
