Kaitlyn Hunt’s parents insist that their daughter, a Central Florida high school senior, is being prosecuted for sex crimes only because her lover was another girl. The state attorney says that gender makes no difference; the age of the two girls is at the crux of the case.

Just before Christmas, they had a sexual encounter in a bathroom at Sebastian River High School. They had at least one more encounter there, according to the affidavit, and one in Ms. Hunt’s bedroom in January after the 14-year-old, a freshman, ran away from home.
The younger girl’s parents went to the police after learning from a coach, school employees and students that their daughter was having a relationship, according to a report from the Indian River County Sheriff’s office. The parents’ information led to the investigation.

Of course this won't happen politically in the foreseeable future. We should not, however, lose sight of what is reasonable. Otherwise, the left will tear us apart with these straw man cases. For example, there is a huge difference between a sexually normal high school senior dating a freshman and a homosexual senior perverting (that verb captures what is actually occurring) a freshman.
Actually, I’d be happier where the Constitution is upheld. Where we, as free citizens, have the right and privilege to act as our personal faith and beliefs lead us.

I have insisted (in a long winded way) that anyone insisting that a fourteen year old in US society is mature enough to be having sex is a liar.
You yourself twist and hedge to avoid denying that this is so... while whining continually that I am a big meanie for pointing this out.
I am under no compulsion to walk on eggshells with people who are not real clear about not getting ones jollies with minors after one reaches the age of majority.

If this were not an anonymous web forum, I doubt he would have been insinuating that fourteen year olds might be ready for sex with adults.

I have had this same conversation with people in the workplace, and I wasn’t anonymous there.

Another article about this 18 year old mentally ill female sex pervert hitting on a 14 year old girl. So the age of consent law kicks in, and they're having "sex" in a school bathroom, and it's perverted unnatural sex. And how many on this thread are saying it's no big deal? Or everyone does it? etc. A country or society that jettisons common human decency and morality is a country or society headed for a crash. Stable families are the very foundation of society and country. Illicit sex destroys families in many different ways. Toss in homosexuality and you wind up with a lower-than-animal like free for all that would embarrass the Romans at the height of their decay.
Pinging both lists because of discussion about age of consent laws. I'm tired of people saying "We all did it" or "everyone does it" or "it's always been that way". When social standards are high - iow morality is the standard - of course some people fail to live up to those standards. But there is societal disapproval for those who break the standards such as shame, ruining reputations, financial hardship or legal punishment and so on. Now sluts and perverts are glorified and honored. What does that say? It says we're hitting bottom and need to get back to reality - the reality of Natural Law.

When social standards condemn sex out of wedlock it is much rarer. People used to get married much younger. There was a very good reason for that.
Common sense would make sodomy illegal again.

First, you have an fairly normal lack of knowledge of history.
One of my hobbies is geneology. Turns out my great-grandmother got married at 13, and had my paternal grandmother at 14. My great-grandfather was 17 at the time.
This was not considered unusual.
Whether you like it or not, teens have sex, outside of marriage. They always have, and they always will. Heck, way back in the 1970s, we had a girl in my 8th grade class get pregnant. And the really amusing part is, they didn’t positively identify the father until AFTER the birth and a blood test: the girl admitted to sleeping with 5 different guys in a little over a week.
The fact is, BOTH girls are gay. And the prosecution, according to the reports, is at the request of the younger girl’s parents. I wonder if they would have demanded a prosecution if their daughter’s lover was a boy. . .
Both girls are “gay”? How do you know the oldre girl didn’t seduce the younger one? In fact it is very likely she did. That is exaclty how homosexuals are created; older ones prey on younger ones and “initate” them into sodomy.
Additionally, the claim that teenagers have always acted like animals in rut without any restriction is untrue. A few always have broken the rules but not the way it is now. Many got married young and that is a much better solution to the problem. Instead, people like you encourage promiscuity amoung teenagers as though they are wild fire hoses without any self control or conscience. Just animals. Sex within marriage and outside of marriage are not equivalent.
I’d say you are ignorant of history if you think all throughout history teenagers have been as promiscuous as they are now.

You do know that marriages of those under age 18 required the consent of the parents, right?
In this case, the sex act generated a request by the parents of the 14-year-old girl to prosecute the offender. It hardly seems likely that the parents would have granted consent to a marriage.
Therefore, the parallel does not apply.
