I recommend caution in believing this. It may be true. or it may be the classic Clintonian move of spreading rumors of a much-worse scandal and then disproving them in an attempt to deflect attention from the already existing facts, and puncture the credibility of those who believed the made up rumors.

Or were these American made Stinger anti-aircraft missiles that the thugs in Libya needed to shoot down those crop dusters the Libyan Air Force had so the thugs could then steal those 20,000 Libyan anti-aircraft missiles to use against? The term stinger is being used as conceptual shorthand for the non-technical dummies of the public. This huge program was highly covert and provision of real US gear would preclude plausible deniability.
People should use the term MANPADS.

Muammar Gaddafi because if you do, the State Department will deny it exists. You can however refer to it as the MANPAD program—Man-Portable-Air-Defense Systems or shoulder-fired-anti-aircraft missiles that the U.S. is “helping” Libya to recover and secure among its weapon stockpiles.

As the Wall Street Journal reported: “The U.S. effort in Benghazi was at its heart a CIA operation,” and the State Department presence in Benghazi “provided diplomatic cover” to conceal weapon transfers from Libya to Syria.

I absolutely believe the State Department role in this, I just can’t believe that the missiles were actually American. it’s much much more likely that the they were Chinese.
