Witness the results of the "lockdown" herd mentality.
What a horrible story. I wager that the outcome would have been different had we been teaching kids to run like hell rather than shelter in place.

You don’t run from an F5 on foot. You go to ground and pray. Everything in the open is shredded.

You can’t run from a tornado.

Run where? The tornado was at least a mile wide.

There really wasn’t another option, other than building an underground shelter at the school. You don’t want to send anyone out into an EF-4 or EF-5 tornado; the flying debris is deadly. And trying to outrun the storm in your car can be equally dangerous. If the kids had been told to “run for it,” their bodies would have been scattered over a much wider area.

This is “mother nature” for lack of a better term. Has nothing to do with “herd mentality” Nothing rational about where a Tstorm goes. At least to till we get better.

In that situation, if you stay in the open and try to run, chances are you’ll be decapitated by flying debris, or torn off your feet and deposited in the next county.

This was a huge tornado. I don’t think running would have helped. There was nothing that could have been done, other than not sending your kids to government schools.

Yeah, run like hell from an F4 tornado... while you’re at it, swim like crazy when you’re in a tsunami... or digg like he’ll when you’re under the avalanche. Great advice.
