I agree. Please don’t blast me for this, but she reminds me of Jeb Bush in August 2004 when there were four hurricanes to hit Florida. He sounded just like that during his press conferences. The following year, the governor of Louisiana, not so much...

I guess if you are going to do a tornado shelter to stand up to an EF5 - it has to be “free floating” - meaning that it can have no connection to the house which will be in the next county.
The cruel quirkiness of tornadoes is on display in that photo. Several flimsy above ground pools look to have made it through largely intact, while much more solid structures on all sides are flattened.
It's Texas Tech:
We may have lost our family ranch house near Brownwood, TX, waiting for word. No one was there, so in light of the lives lost today, I will temper my grief if the house is gone.
Things can be replaced. A one hundred year-old house won’t be the same after the rebuild, but we didn’t lose anybody.
You’re in our thoughts, FRiend .. glad you/yours are still with us.

No, of course not, but the people in charge of the schools should have considered closing early. They do that for snow, so why on earth wouldn’t they consider it for something as drastic as a tornado?
You’re just west of Ft Worth? I need to come out and have a beer with you sometime.
Stay safe with this weather tonight.
Thanks pardner. My Mom (6th generation all the way back to the Old 300) grew up there.
But like I said, it’s just a house, not a life.
God Bless those families that have suffered the ultimate loss. Parents aren’t supposed to bury their children.
All our local weather forecasters said there was a very good chance of tornadoes today, and that today was going to be worse than yesterday. They were right.
The problem when you live in a tornado alley is that almost all the warning result in little or nothing happening.
After a while, you tend to get complacent if you haven’t actually been through one hitting your immediate area.
It wouldn't be closing early because of a tornado, it would be because of being in an area of millions of square miles that MIGHT have a few tornadoes in it that damage a few square miles of it.
It does, doesn’t it? I read the FAQ and it is bolted to the foundation of the house. It may not be quite as good as an underground shelter, but it’s less expensive, more accessible, and much better than hunkering down in a closet or bathroom.
I have seen forecasts and setups similar to what this look like this morning bust...completely, with zero tornadoes. I've seen multiple "Particularly Dangerous Situation" tornado watches bust completely, including a couple that not only had no tornadoes, they didn't even have any storms (cap bust)
I saw a report that it took 3 strong men to hold the shelter door shut.
