Actually that perception by blacks does hold them back, and should be discussed openly. To be derided by “classmates” for being literate is absurd, but that’s what goes on.

Yup I’ve seen it myself with a black kid I was training for a much better paying job. He told me that he had to live in the same neighborhood with his antagonists and walked away from it.

Agree. I have had black people tell me that they “have to act white” in order to make it in the business world. They say it in their communities not white folks. It’s 1000% cultural.

The problem is that too many have bought in to the notion that hip-hop thugs are the "true" blacks. The entertainment industry contributes to this.

What's needed is for educated, intelligent blacks to call out the idiots as being idiots.
