Daniele Perazzi, president of the Italian Perazzi Shotguns firm, was taken into custody yesterday by Adams County Deputies [see update, below] along with several prototype shotguns. The executive was picked up in the parking lot of the Denver Merchandise Mart, hosting the high-end Colorado Gun Collectors show this weekend, after a taxi driver, likely reacting to a suspicious activity reporting outreach program conducted by law enforcement, told authorities he thought he could be transporting an armed foreign speaking terror suspect.
He loaded prototype shotguns into the cab on the way to the Merchandise Mart, gun rights activist and newly-elected National Rifle Association Director Steve Schreiner, who is attending the event this weekend, told Gun Rights Examiner this morning. The cab driver notified law enforcement he suspected he had a terrorist in his cab, and they were waiting to intercept him, evidently oblivious to the fact that he was arriving at a highly-publicized area gun show.
He has two lawyers, Schreiner continued, one of whom went to the police station, and convinced the police that the owner of one of the most expensive shotgun companies in the world was not a terrorist.
Perazzi was released a short time later and his prototype shotguns were returned to him, but reports have emerged that he was ordered by law enforcement to leave the state by nightfall, and sources tell Gun Rights Examiner he has gone one step further and left the country. He is expected to be returning soon with an eye toward filing legal action.
Gun Rights Examiner also spoke this morning with one of the two attorneys involved with helping Perazzi straighten matters out to obtain his release.

Sadly I have hunted Colorado for years but would like to find another place. Bad part is I am closer to New Mexico but it is liberal as well, I would like to start going to Wyoming or Montana but the 2 full days extra drive time and cost of fuel preclude that choice.
It irks me they also pick the pristine and most beautiful places.
As in most cases/states, it's the large urban areas that give a state a bad name.

Is funny, I remember my Mom carrying my Dads old shotgun down a main street in Colo Springs to the pawn shop when he would be on feid manuvers and we needed some bean money.
Ususually toward the end of the month that weak Soldier Salary would run out, so she would get a ride to town with me and shotgun in tow. Nowdays Off with your heads!lol
Have the gun hating liberals in Colorado set up a bonus program for tips re someone having legal guns in their cabs or anywhere?
That is what I,m wondering. Why are they even haveing Gun Shows in Colorado?
It might be a good idea whenever using a cab to start wriring down (or sending a voicemail to one’s self) the cabby’s name, license number, license plate, and cab company for future reference.
Another dark side of gun registering is having items like this listed in a public office. Then a crooked employee can sell that data to break in thugs.
Darn! Ya beat me to that question! First thing that came to MY mind!
Memo to shotgun executive...move to Texas! We are gun-friendly here!
It’s all about applying the scarlet letter. Now the president of one of the foremost expense shotgun manufacturers has and will forever have an arrest record on ‘a weapons charge’.
If there is a lawsuit, the police will put on their best puppy dog eyes, maybe get scolded by the judge, but the tax payers will pay the freight.
“To what office do I go to get my reputation back?”
=> none!
He should in return file massive lawsuits against all involved as there obviously wasn’t any information other than a verbal report by a cabbie of a foreign language and firearms.
Durango is infested with leftists. Pagosa Springs too.
Nah.
He probably simply hasn't been here for a few years and still thinks America is a free country where he can exercise 2nd Amendment rights without the fear some Gestapo will put his face in the concrete - likely on the "tip" of a Muslim cabbie who can barely speak ten words of English but sure does know how to manipulate the Infidels!
You know, the "America" like when I was a kid and we took our rifles to school during hunting season so we could get in the woods after that big buck right after school let out?
Yes, that America, Dorothy. It once existed, long, long ago...
Perazzi thought he was in America not Amerika. Welcome to the new normal.
what a shame
a fall from a once greatness
once arguably as good as it got here...without a beach
FYI, the Tanner Gun Show is held at the Denver Merchandise Mart, which isn’t actually in Denver at all. It’s actually in Adams County. I was there on the opening day a few weeks ago to look for reloading components and to visit a friend who has a table at the show, a Boulder County Sheriff’s Sargent. When I was leaving I noticed nearly a dozen Adams County units parked at the Mart entrance adjacent to the northbound I-25 entrance ramp.
I don’t recall seeing that level of police presence before. Nonetheless, all of those sheriff’s were pretty much just standing around in little groups BSing, and pretty much ignoring the hundreds of folks streaming by in and out of he show, openly carrying everything imaginable.
My impression was that they were there as a deterrent force and just in case something bad might happen, and not to police the show itself. I sort of actually felt better protected. After all, while everyone had lots of guns, they were being carried unloaded per show rules and most folks at the show were just folks, and wouldn’t have much of a clue if something bad started.
(BTW, my guess is that if anything bad would happen, it might be some fool anti-gunners demonstrating or something. But it would appear the anti-gunners don’t have the guts to show up in the face of several thousand armed folk. You can’t really blame them, can you?)
And finally, Sheriff DOUGLAS N. DARR of Adams county is one of the 54 out of 64 Colorado Sheriff’s who are suing the state for passing a bevy of unconstitutional anti-gun laws signed by our commie governor, Chickenlooper.
Hard to tell how much of this reported incident is true, but if true, looks like the Denver PD did it, which would be no surprise at all.
There actually is a program in the Denver area for cab and bus drivers to report anything they find suspicious. This particular cabbie was probably trying to get some kind of reward.
