Treasury Secretary Jack Lew on Friday urged congressional leaders to raise the debt limit and insisted that the White House is not going to negotiate over the increase because lawmakers have "no choice."
"We will not negotiate over the debt limit," Lew wrote. "The creditworthiness of the United States is non-negotiable. The question of whether the country must pay obligations it has already incurred is not open to debate."
Lew said that while President Obama is willing to discuss plans to reduce the nation's deficit with Congress, those talks must be kept separate from any effort to raise the nation's debt cap.

if the creditworthiness of the United States is not negotiable, then pay down some of the d***ed debt for a change!
The arrogance of simply telling the Congress what to do.
This administration gets more and more demanding ever day.
Time for Congress to step up and tell them to get ______
When will the indictments and arrests begin?
OR will there be no accountability and a whirlwind
of citizen anger like never before in history?
Have him ask the Fed for it, they are already creating $85 billion/mo that we will never pay off, what’s another trillion here or there?
Keep those printing presses rolling!!! Soon inflation will be so bad that we will be looking at ten dollar/gallon gas. Which is just what the Progressives want anyway.
Since you put in an option, I predict option #2.
He sure is an arrogant ahole, isn’t he? Wait til the republicans bring him in for questioning in regards to the IRS abuse of power!! That hopefully will take his arrogant attitude down and notch or two.
These people are truly tempting the gods with their in your face lawlessness, arrogance and thuggish behavior.
Dear Local Bank:
I have maxed out all my credit cards from other banks. Give me another. The question of whether I must pay obligations I have already incurred is not open to debate.
Sincerely,
John Q. Public
Local Idiot
That is not “asking” then. It is DEMANDING with no possible review.
Arrogance is a characteristic of the Leftist pack mentality.
Here’s your increase: Gut the IRS. Gut the EPA. Gut the Energy dept. Gut Agriculture. Gut Housing. Gut HHS. Gut DHS. Gut Education. Gut Labor. Repeal ObamaCommieCare. Cut all govt salaries, pensions and perks by 25%!!
I say call him before Congress to explain his understanding of the US government whereby the Executive Branch can state something and Congress isn’t allowed to debate it. I want to see this. Shut down the government then. Make them grovel or default. Call their bluff.
I wonder what the bastard is going to say to the Chinese when they stop loaning us money?
I remember when Congress controlled the ‘purse’.
Well, I guess that’s settled. If there is no debate, that’s an ultimatum so the 0bama administration will need do it alone. Another breech of the separation of powers and another article of impeachment.
Something tells me that this time, ODimwit may pull the trillion dollar coin thing or declare, as the Executive Branch, the debt limit unconstitutional.
It never is with Obama. This know-it-all knows better than Wall Street when it comes to financial regulation, better than the bankruptcy code when dealing with the GM restructuring, better than Congress when dealing with Libya, and better than healthcare professionals, the insurance industry, and the majority of Americans when it comes to healthcare. There is NEVER time to debate ANYTHING, or even to read the laws that Mr. know-it-all assures us MUST be passed. But we must trust his judgement, because he knows more about everything than anyone else.
Except, of course, when his own Administration does something. Then he knows nothing at all. He know nothing about Fast & Furious, nothing about Benghazi, nothing about the IRS and nothing about the DOJ's AP scandal.
Amazing, isn't it? He knows EVERYTHING that is not his business, and NOTHING that is.
