BO claimed he was informed of the situation around 5PM. He claimed he had Panetta handle it. I don’t believe he ever acknowledged the 10PM call. I am not sure if he ever denied this call occurred. Any FRpeers know if BO denied this call at some point. That would be more important than the content of the call. IMHO.

There was a White House meeting including the president at 7:30 as well. We had pictures of that meeting earlier this week. Lew looked grim.

My thinking is that the call was made and the issue really is: What was Obama doing from 5:00 PM to 10:00PM? The choices are:

A. Managing the rescue effort and possible military response.
B. Managing his campaign.

I choose B. Instinctively, Obama would focus his attention on dealing with the political fallout from the Benghazi attack and the death of the Ambassador. There is zero evidence that he was hands-on in the management of any possible military response. It's not his thing.

I will bet dollars to donuts that he was on the phone with Axelrod and huddling with Valerie Jarrett for most of those 5 hours. Out of that came the fiction of the video as the cause of a demonstration that got out of control.

In the days following the attack, IIRC at one of the presidential debates, Obama claimed he was on the phone with the Israeli PM for an hour.

That was the ONLY acknowledged phone call Obama was engaged in the afternoon/evening/night of Sept 11, 2012.

In other venues, he and/or staff (Carney, etc.) indicated that Obama did have the security briefing at 5:00 Washington time. During it, he/they were informed of the attacks. Thereafter, no one apparently knew where Obama was or who he might have spoken to.

[The WH has been and continues making up the narrative as they go. What they said 4 or 6 months ago has no bearing on what they said last month or last week or yesterday.]
