Exactly. It would have been a more interesting and informative article if it compared the amount of fecal matter and bacteria of various types in swimming pools to that present in natural bodies of salt and fresh water that have animals doing their business in them and have all kinds of run-off going into them. I am taking a wild guess that swimming pools are cleaner than “nature”.

I guess these people don't swim at all because the nation's waterways are completely untreated. At least public pools are treated with chemicals like chlorine daily and tested.
Yeah, especially after a moderate rainfall, many municipal water treatment systems have an overflow outlet that allows UNtreated sewage in the rivers and lakes downstream. This includes ocean beaches that people think are "pure"
