Why is IRS' Lois Lerner befit for 'President's medallion' honor from leftist law school? [Vanity]

Leftist liberals are a close-knit group. They hear the "scuttlebutt." They know who contributed GREATLY to the 2012 Obama campaign.

And they reward accordingly. I mean, come on, what exactly DID the IRS director of Exempt Organization Division, Lois Lerner, do to earn a prestigious "honor" from the far left Western New England School of Law anyway? (Other than simply being an alum of the school?)

Yes, the IRS' Lois Lerner bowed out this week from electing to provide the scheduled commencement address for the Western New England School of Law. But keep in mind that the WNE didn't "x" out Lois Lerner; no, Lois Lerner "xed" out the WNE.

Up until Lerner bowing out, she had been slated to receive the school's “President’s Medallion” award -- an honor, per Michelle Malkin, that was established in 2002 and "'bestowed upon those who have distinguished themselves in a particular field or in service to an important cause that has benefited society locally, regionally, nationally, or internationally,' the college’s website states."

Malkin source: Law school still plans to honor scandal-plagued Obama IRS official Lois Lerner

And, after you realize that the IRS' Lois Lerner and the WNE is a "marriage" wed in hell -- it all makes perfect sense.

Leftist pieces of the puzzle all come together

A citizen simply needs to grasp all the pieces of the puzzle:

1. The WNE is a far left law school.
2. Lerner is an alum of the WNE.
3. Lerner's husband's law firm is tied heavily into Obama: Embattled IRS official Lois Lerner’s husband’s law firm has strong Obama connections

In other words, once the pieces of the puzzle are placed together, could liberals really pass any straight-face test in being queried as to why a law school would choose to honor Lerner about a half-year after the elections?

After all, what agency thereby did more than the IRS to...
...stifle up and coming tea party groups (and other similar conservative groups)? Rush Limbaugh pointed out mid-week that the average application approval process for such groups was stretched out beyond three years -- all while Barack Obama's brother from Kenya had his non-profit application process surge through in less than a month!
...keep potential conservative donors in check -- donors who wished to remain anonymous toward being publicly divulged where their gifts were going? Donors who didn't wish for their names to show up on ProPublica, a liberal Web site being directly fed these names by the IRS for journalists to follow up upon and perhaps splash their names in their articles?

You see, it's not that Lois Lerner is a poor reflection upon the Western New England School of Law that she bowed out this week from giving the school's May 18 commencement address.

Actually, even after this emerged scandal, Lois Lerner provides the perfect "poster girl" for a law school that is so far left ... no wonder they wanted to honor the likes of Lerner! And with such strange timing!

Per College Insurrection.com, Lerner supposedly "'grew concerned that the focus would be on her and the development the IRS rather than on the law graduates,' said Dave Stawasz, spokesman for WNE."

How far left is the Western New England School of Law?

Yet exactly what kind of "law graduates" does the Western New England School of Law churn out?

Well, that information is readily found on the WNE Web site: Center for Gender & Sexuality Studies Web site section.

Here, we find its sample agenda under its acclaimed "A Nationally Recognized Faculty" portion of its Web site:

"Western New England University School of Law is uniquely positioned to launch such a center. The School has attracted to its faculty some of the leading minds in gender and sexuality studies, including internationally renowned GLAD Attorney Jennifer Levi, who has litigated many important transgender and same-sex marriage cases, and Professor Erin Buzuvis, who is a Title IX scholar and college athletics discrimination expert. They have joined longtime faculty members Professor Anne Goldstein, who wrote a series of foundational gay rights articles following the Bowers v. Hardwick decision, and Professor Taylor Flynn, who has written much-cited scholarly articles in the areas of sexual orientation and recently served as Chair of the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) Section of AALS. Associate Professor Giovanna Shay brings unique insight into the issues of incarceration and gender and sexuality as a former Soros Justice Fellow at the ACLU National Prison Project...Their ongoing research and legal representation of sexual minorities and transgender individuals will continue to build on the body of legal scholarship and break new ground in all facets of law. The Gender and Sexuality Studies Concentration Leveraging the expertise of these and other faculty members, Western New England introduced a concentration in Gender and Sexuality Studies in 2011. The Center also works with faculty to develop coursework beyond the concentration to incorporate issues of gender justice and LGBT rights into the general curriculum in order to provide all students with a foundation on how these issues affect various practice areas."

In other words, the Western New England School of Law is so far leftist and ideologically driven to its liberal core that no wonder this school looked around as to whom it could honor based upon the latest election cycle.

And, what better 2013 candidate was there than Lois Lerner?

Using the power of the State to thwart and punish your political enemies is a hallmark of the left. It’s what they do. It’s the very reason for attaining power in the first place.

The current scandal for these people is nothing more than a fly to be swatted. It won’t change their way of doing things. After the heat is off, they will be back to doing what they always do.

Yup. It's the Marxist/fascist thing. Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Mussolini, Mao, Ho Chi Minh, Pol Pot, Castro, Obama, et al.

Rush claims that people in these positions already know what to do...don't even need to be instructed to do them...they qualify exactly because of who they are ... and their backgrounds (I would exemplify...like a Western New England Law School grad, etc.)

Yet, it would be interesting to see what criminal laws Lerner & others broke...and who she would 'rat out for a lesser sentence.

They are indeed "specialists"... who for some strange reason, have no counterpart (no "specialists" who review liberal non-profits with the same ultra-fine tooth comb that extends beyond their responsibility)

Yup. When you apply for govt bureaucratic positions under Obama's admin, conservatives need not apply for the "info fishermen" positions...or any other positions for that matter...Obama is committed to keep conservatives and independents jobless.

You will find that most law schools are dominated by lefties, just as are most universities.

This law school is pretty far down the totem poll in terms of national prestige. Lerner may very well be one of their most successful graduates, so it's not surprising she's getting an award.

Of course IRS is dominated by Democrats, just like most of the federal bureaucracy. The front line reviewers wouldn't see anything wrong with a directive to give special scrutiny to conservative groups.

The issue now for the House is to issue subpoenas and find out just how high up the knowledge of this was. I think this woman was right in the middle of it, if she didn't order it herself.

Leftists like to hand out awards to other leftists for good behavior. Remember all those medals they used to hand out in the Soviet Union.

Hillary Clinton just got an award the other day from some of her political supporters. It was the first time the award has ever been given. Fact is, they created it just for her.

What this all shows is that the Left thinks we're all bloomin' idiots...that we have no ability to size up what these awards represent...the timing of them shows they aren't even subtle in their tit-for-tat medallions.

Thanks for the post, Colofornian.

Been trying to get some background biographical info on Ms. Lerner since the scandal broke. I'd never heard of Western New England Law School. Apparently Lerner has made it infamous. Doesn't seem to have given her much of a legal education, judging from how she botched up her taking the Fifth Amendment at the House committee hearing the other day.

Does anyone know where she went undergrad? Where she was raised and if her parents were notable leftists?

I’m 61 years old.

Make-up can do wonders. Plus, she isn’t fat.

On the photo in the link you sent me (which I hadn’t seen until after I posted my last comment), she does look older than the impression I got from watching her on TV or seeing a file photo of her on TV.
