The price of a gallon of gasoline hit a shocking level overnight. In the Twin Cities, several chain gas stations -- mostly in the outer ring -- raised their prices to between $4.09 and $4.19 a gallon. That's about 20 cents more overnight, 60 cents in the last two weeks, and $1.20 since January. At many stations, prices rose into the $4 range yesterday afternoon, then fell overnight into the $3.90 area.

What's going on here?

Guy was just on a local Twin Cities stations said two refineries in Oklahoma are down for maintenance.

I heard that they were in Chicago, and that it is indefinite.

The closure of two Chicago-area refineries for repairs is driving gas prices toward record levels across the Upper Midwest.

Personally, I'd like to know what central planning genius decided that closing two refineries simultaneously was a good idea.

We're at $4.25 this morning.

I picked Idaho for access to roads, airports and basic necessities. I enjoy Wyoming, but it isn’t a good fit for my current employment.

I left both WY and ID due to employment difficulties.

I left my family in place in Idaho and packed up for a room in San Diego to retain my employment. The contract ended. I'm holding the room as we expect a new contract around mid-July. Most of my personal stuff came home with me on May 3rd.
