A Maine teenager who advertised his BMW for sale on Craigslist was forced into the vehicle’s trunk at gunpoint and taken on an eight-hour drive to Delaware by a man who masqueraded as a purchaser, The Smoking Gun has learned.
After posting his online ad last month, Alexander Filatov, 19, was contacted by Travis Landry, who said he was interested in buying the grey 2004 sedan. Landry, 29, directed Filatov to meet him at the Motel 6 in Portland where he was staying.

I’ll have to tell my wife that. We met on Craigslist in 2006.
I've done it before. Always meet at a public place, preferably one that has security cameras and a guard on patrol. Walmart and Target are excellent. It's also a good idea to send a friend the listing and the meet-up location. Given that every internet posting has a home address permanently recorded and readily accessible by law enforcement, it's an easy matter to find out the other end of the transaction.

I’m 61 and never knew these techniques. This young Russian fellow could have used it right when the gun was shown, as he was very liable to be killed by this monster at some point. That gun-showing was the signal to go for the put-down.

I don’t know, I’m skeptical about some of those techniques, especially the mass marketed ones. Yes, those are prime targets to disable someone, but they are also areas of the body where you have the strongest instinctual reflexes to defend, because they are so vulnerable. Even before your brain realizes it’s in a fight, your reflexes cause your head to drop to protect the throat and make it harder to get at the eyes. The groin’s a pretty good target of opportunity though.
