Lois Lerner, the IRS official now at the center of a scandal involving tax agents who selectively targeted conservative groups, is scheduled to receive an award and give the commencement address at Western New England University School of Law.
A spokesperson for the school said the university was aware of the controversy, but would still honor Lerner, who directs the agency’s exempt organizations division.
“Our plans have not changed at this time,” said David Stawasz, a spokesperson for the university, in an interview with The Daily Caller News Foundation. “Ms. Werner has apologized for the actions of certain IRS employees. We are aware of the circumstances, but our plans have not changed.”
Lerner will give a speech and receive the Presidential Medallion at the ceremony on May 18. The medallion is awarded each year to one exceptional public servant.
“It is also intended to bring to the students of the College successful role models in a variety of fields to hear firsthand their important lessons in leadership,” according to a university press release.
In its announcement of Lerner’s award, the university praised her for enhancing transparency and promoting good government ethics at the IRS.
Lerner, a registered Democrat, recently admitted that under her watch, IRS officials discriminated against conservative and tea party groups, paying extra attention to their tax filings. It is unclear how much top government officials, including President Obama, knew about these practices.
So they’re not going to swap in Dr. Ben Carson. Color me shocked.
But Dr. Carson was too controversial for Johns Hopkins??
Let her speak, and have the students stand up and turn their backs on her while she speaks.
When this Contemptable Criminal walks to the Podium the Graduating Student/Lawyers should all stand and turn their back to her.
She and those under HER watch violated everything this Country Stands for.
I say everyone go on a tax strike. Refuse to pay any taxes for a year. After all, as we have seen with illegal immigration, if everyone does it it’s OK. The government will demand amnesty for you!

Of course, awards aren’t handed down for a good job any longer, awards are all feel-good bunk. From Little League to Nobel Peace Prize. She will get her mostly because she is female, Obama got his mostly because he became the first black president. It makes the givers feel good about themselves.
Since she’s is so bad at math, she probably couldn’t calculate how many federal laws she was breaking. She probably put the decimal in the wrong place.
Geezus ain’t that the truth, that is EXACTLY what is going to happen and why this freakin’ Obamacare needs to be obliterated ASAP. But being that we no longer have a Republican party but a RINO party it’s going to be a long hard road to do it. The commie punks have the wheel and they ain’t letting go.

Since she “directs the agency’s exempt organizations division,” she is at a minimum responsible for the lack of controls and oversight of her division’s operation. But by all means, give her an award for her stellar performance. /s
This administration creates contempt for the rule of law and makes people feel like jack-arses for following the rules.
I assume that she is working to provide comprehensive, fundamental, common sense change to the IRS through a Secure Transaction Administration State Initiative.
Would love to see a good protest turnout for this ceremony. Complete with pitchforks.
Isn’t it amazing how many people they throw in jail for not paying taxes yet we never hear one word about an illegal being thrown in jail for being illegal? They only throw them in jail if they kill somebody. They even demand that illegals have a right to break the law LOL! The government actually sues a state to allow people to break the law. Incredible.
