Is Rush Limbaugh still relevant? (Barf Alert)
CNN ^ | May 14, 2013 | Dean Obeidallah

New York (CNN) -- Is Rush Limbaugh becoming a relic, a human version of "Mad Men," except without the style or cool clothes? Has Limbaugh become as dated as Jazzercise or "Macarena?"

All you need to do is look at the bottom line to see that Limbaugh is in trouble. Limbaugh once raked in the big bucks for his radio syndicator, Cumulus. But last week, Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey made it clear those days are over. Dickey reported that Cumulus had lost millions of dollars in ad sales because many advertisers no longer want to be associated with Limbaugh.

According to Dickey, advertisers began to pull away from Limbaugh after his February 2012 comments in which he infamously called law student Sandra Fluke a "slut" and a "prostitute" after she testified before Congress advocating birth control be covered by health insurance. Limbaugh's despicable comments were met with an avalanche of outrage and calls for corporations to stop advertising on Rush's show.

How badly did this advertising boycott hurt Limbaugh's show?

Well, according to the radio industry magazine "Radio Ink," 48 of the 50 network advertisers for Cumulus radio have excluded Limbaugh's show from their ad orders. I'm no media expert, but that sounds really bad for Rush.

What was Limbaugh's response? Was he contrite or remorseful? Nope. Instead Limbaugh lashed out last week at young women again by asserting that the reason ad sales fell off was because: "The media buyers at advertising agencies are young women, fresh out of college-liberal feminists who hate conservatism." Not only is this comment sexist on its face, remarkably Limbaugh apparently doesn't believe that his past antics have contributed to Cumulus' lost ad sales.

What’s a CNN?

Probably not. Most people who think conservatively have already heard Rush, and either like him or not. Those who are either liberals or low-information types who don’t read and research current events are not going to be persuaded even if they do listen to him. So no, Rush isn’t terribly relevant anymore. That’s not to say he should go away or that those who enjoy his commentary aren’t entitled to do so, but the question was “relevancy”.

Still relevant? Well it would seem that Osama Obama thinks he is.Otherwise, why would Osama mention Rush just about every day.Osama certainly doesn't mention *me* every day. Why,if I wasn't on his official “potential terrorist” list (as a military veteran) he wouldn't even know who I was.

If he were not “still relevant” the question would not be asked.

I'd like to see Limbaugh with an hour-long weekend show on FOX News. He could replace bottom-feeding Geraldo Rivera.

"Rush isn’t terribly relevant anymore."

If Rush does live in Bammy's head, then he IS relevant.

CNN can’t even get the facts right. CUME-Less is not the syndicator. EIB is distributed by Premiere Networks a division of Clear Channel.

Dickey is looking of his own programming alternative, for now it’s Rick Huckaby. CC will have no problem clearing Rush on one of their stations.

“Unwavering conviction that Bambi was going to lose in a landslide last November.”

Maybe he did. After all, Soros counted the votes.

“Both did harm to conservative causes.”

Nonsense.

“Drudge which is not a good source.”

Wossamatta U? Drudge is not a source. It is a place where links to sources are found.

Is Dean Obeidallah a protege of Dr. Gosnell, the corporate murderer of CZAR B.O. and Planned Parenthood?

That seems to be his main concern for women's health!

He did. I like Rush but he goes too far sometimes. Making fun of peoples names and physical appearance is just juvenile and counter productive for our side. But he is an entertainer and that gives him license.

Did you hear his commentary in context or just hear what people said he said? Sandra Fluke, a democrat operative, ignoring that the law school she was attending provides FREE CONDOMS at the student health clinic, testified before Congress that she was going bankrupt having to pay for her birth control and condoms every month. Rush made the comment that anyone who testifies to being threatened with bankruptcy by buying so many condoms because she is having so much sex must be a slut! The only other people who could go through so many are prostitutes. I think he was making a cogent point. Why should the government fund her sexual activity? The liberal press conflated his point about Sandra Fluke's exaggerated testimony into him making a statement about EVERY woman who uses birth control being a "slut," thus precipitating a boycott based on that.

What’s this CNN thing?

It's the network where Anthony Bourdain's travel show moved to. It's the only show there worth watching.

Operation Chaos was a silly distraction that accomplished nothing.
Maybe it didn’t hurt conservatives but it certainly didn’t help either.

But we now know that many conservatives stayed home in Nov, 2012..and if just one of them did so because Rush told them that Bambi was going to lose in a “landslide”, then yes, dsc, his erroneous forecast did some damage.

Drudge is where Rush goes to get much of his daily news, which shows the limits of his time and research abilities...or that of his staff.
And his “by the ways” are getting really tiresomewhich means that it will be another half hour and five “I’ll be right backs” before he regains focus.

Rush makes thousands of interesting and valid points throught the year, but I wish he were harder on the “Republican leadership”, which is an oxymoron.

If Rush is really irrelevant why does Obama claim that Rush is preventing him from accomplishing what he wants to?
