This is the same question I've asked myself many a time in the past when semantically the focus is shifted to some pointless crap that NO ONE questions and everything subsides as if there has been a LOGICAL answer uncovered.

Though, IF the e-mail was altered, it would make many disregard the whole thing.
I believe that is what the WH wants. They get this story out there and that is all people will remember.

Look at what happened to Palin—she can see Russia from her porch or whatever.
Which suggests that whatever was written in any email, or talking point, that surfaced anywhere back then did, in fact, undermine a FBI investigation.
Makes me think the people forging emails now don't know enough of the facts to figure out how to obfuscate very well.

We are out numbered by those with their hands stuck out. That percentage is now 48%. Do you think that 48% is going to vote conservative???? Not even. That number is only going up, not down. As soon as the 12-15 million illegals are legally able to vote, that number with jump big time. None of those are going to vote conservative. Sorry, just don’t see a conservative winning again. The White House is trying to pretend that they were merely trying to clear up “wrong information.”
But the “wrong information” Rhodes is referring to in this email is actually the truth - that Benghazi was
a terrorist attack.
This is made even more clear by reviewing the press briefings from September 2012, as Jay Carney sneeringly kept referring to “speculation” by the press, Fox in particular, and trying to imply that it was false.
They were basically calling the truth a lie - and the lie, truth. Very Orwellian of them.
