David Plouffe had an intriguing comment yesterday on the scandal involving selective tax-law enforcement against Tea Party groups. The manager of the 2008 Obama campaign who served as a top White House aide until this January, tweeted: "What IRS did dumb and wrong. Impt to note GOP groups flourished last 2 elections, overwhelming Ds. And they will use this to raise more $."
National Journal's Ron Fournier responded with a trio of "serious questions: Why is that important to note? Is it justification for the action you called wrong? If not, why note?" Fournier describes the responses he got:
Several Twitter readers quickly offered their own interpretation, including conservative columnist James Taranto of the Wall Street Journal. "Because it goes to the question of motive," Taranto tweeted. I asked Plouffe to respond via Twitter, email or my cell phone. He responded within an hour. Here is his unedited email:
"In terms of impact. Reading much of the coverage layperson would get sense premeditated attempt to effectively silence political opponents. I do think not as a justification but as an evaluation of any impact it is important to note that it would not appear their aims or fundraising were affected. So indefensible behavior by IRS clearly the story. As people are doing analysis it's a secondary point."
"So you were speaking to the impact, not justifying the actions or (providing) motive?" I asked via email. "Exactly," Plouffe replied.
We stand behind our tweet, which reflected our own thought as to why it's important, not an effort to divine Plouffe's. But his response to Fournier is telling. He's trying to minimize the scandal by suggesting that the abuse of IRS power was ineffective in achieving a political end....

Trust Anderson Cooper will still be doing shake-n-bake with the Cincinnati Hell House.
No Benghazi, no IRS persecution, no Gosnell, no AP phone taps...none of that.
CNN will probably build a Hell House torture sound stage complete with hanging chains and monkey bars for Anderson Cooper to swing on.
How many OTHER agencies are ‘targeting’ conservatives?.. EPA, DHS, SSA. Now if only the FBI would target Muslims. Oh wait.. That would never happen.
Senator Max Baucus is leading the investigation into the IRS ,but he also urged the IRS to target conservative groups on 2010 D’oh
The motive is to guarantee TYRANNY!! Scare enough of the sheeple and Obama rules for life.
Remember Republican Chrysler dealers got the ax first.
The irony is that if the MSM had been doing its job as non vested journalists and not as thinly disguised Obama supporters, the Obama people may have properly thought that the Benghazi coverup and the IRS harassments was not such a good idea. They figured with the MSM in their pocket, they could do this nonsense and if found out a simple denial or apology would suffice. Pure hubris on the part of both the MSM and the Obama people.
I was shocked to see the large media finally for the first time report news.
My thoughts are that the media is trying to draw attention away from the Amnesty bill they are trying to sneak through Congress.
From the article:
scandal involving selective tax-law enforcement against Tea Party groups.
This was not tax-law enforcement, it was illegal. They were asking for information not required by law.
impt to note, David,, yur busted
Cong Issa's panel should find out what the Obomba WH and Holder's DOJ knew about abusing IRS power for illegal purposes. Congress MUST ask the right questions:
(1) The IRS has admitted profiling conservative groups for extra-IRS scrutiny----did the IRS ever leak tax info?
(2) Obama took control of the census when he took office in 2008---was census info ever used in conjunction w/ IRS data?
(3) Were there ever break- ins at the hdq of Tea Party, patriot groups , home-schoolers, Christian individual and groups, gun rights advocates, Romney hdq, Repub offices?
(4) Did the actions of a sitting US president using the power of the IRS like a 40's-era Gestapo invalidate the presidential election of 2012?

Cong Issa needs to be prepared to use the following info:

ACTION FREEPER ALERT: blast mail the above list/info to Congress, to print/broadcast media......do it now.
My Spidey-sense tells me that the dinosaur media is reporting on IRSgate because - while embarrassing - this scandal cannot conceivably be tied to either Obama or Hitlery. It speaks more to the corruption of government as a whole rather than personal corruption, and the IRS is an easy scapegoat because no one likes them.
The dinosaur media is ignoring Benghazigate because there are several events which increasingly point to direct personal involvement by both Obama and Hillary... and these events are not only legacy-wreckers, they may be prosecutable offenses as well.
No they can’t. To much more of this and there will be shortage of rope in DC.
>>>Scare enough of the sheeple and Obama rules for life.<<<
Ask Hosni Mubarak how well that worked for him. Obama would end up the same way; an arrogant and unrepentent man impotently staring out from a cage in a courtroom.
“Because it goes to the question of motive”
Just another reason to buy another few guns and any ammunition you can get your hands on.
Just in case.
“How many OTHER agencies”...
In the early Tea Party days..before one of the larger countrywide coordinated rallies, Big Sis issued and edict that detailed “terroristic groups”.
Although it didn’t specify TP..it alluded to political rallies and as I recall specifically targeted anti-abortion rallies.
Needless to say, I would have crawled over broken glass on my hands and knees to attend. I had a real Jeanne Fritichie (sp?) moment. “Shoot if you must this old gray head...”
