Sure, it was just one of those tongue-tied moments we've all experienced. But if it had been George W. Bush mispronouncing the name of a world leader who is very much in the news, imagine the field day the MSM would have had with it.
At his press appearance with British PM David Cameron today, aired on MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell Reports, President Obama was seen pronouncing the name of the Syrian dictator Bashir Assad as "Bassar Ashad." PBO pauses before pronouncing, seeming to sense he's about to get it wrong, but deciding to press ahead. There's another priceless moment: when the show cuts back to the studio, guest-hosting Chuck Todd is seen with a hilariously baffled look on his face.

How many times would Letterman, Jon Stewart, etc. have replayed this if W had made the same mistake? Ping to Today show list.
Barky has a lot on his mind these days......
he went to harvard dontchaknow...
How dare you make fun of your President who is dyslexic, or is it full of Sh.it.
He’ll be calling the Choom Gang for an emergency meeting tonight
The double standard is as large as the Grand Canyon. I rarely watch network...or for that matter...any tv anymore. It’s just a bunch of lies...designed to force a leftwing view.
I was watching a show on the History channel about where our words came from. They listed words coined by various presidents over the years, Like Jefferson being the first to use “Indescribable” yet then turned right around and said Bush coined nonsense words like “Misunderestimate”
I want to know why it wasn’t nonsense for Jefferson to make up words but Bush is accused of making up false words.
Those mooslim names are a bummer, huh Hussein.
Just do what the Great One does and say YabbaDabbaDo!
mispronouncing Arab Muslim names or words
is intentional
to give the mis-impression that he’s unfamiliar with Arab and Muslim things
his handlers have obviously told him that all his “Moslem prayer is the most beautiful sound in the world” and “I’m a Muslim” and bowing down so low to the dictator of Arabia (who claims to be Mohammed’s rep on earth).. etc and etc...
his handlers have told him that letting all that reach the ears of the AMERICAN public was unwise
so now he is under orders to suddenly start mis- pronouncing Muslim names and words and such (even though he memorized the Arabic Koran and was said to be “excellent” at reciting his Muslim prayers)
watch for further “gee, these Arab Muslim words are sure strange” incidents
I wonder if he know it ISN’T 2008, yet
Loser !!
It’s about time this clown was drug tested..
I agree with you; I think he is rattled.
More proof he’s an empty suit with a vacant head to match. Though I suppose it’s something of good news: one would expect an actual covert Muslim to have better Arabic pronunciation. (Or is it that Alawite Christian-style name Bashir that fouled him up?)
A bass here, a shad there ... pretty soon you’re talking about some serious floundering.
Well done.
A bass here, a shad there ... pretty soon youre talking about some serious floundering.
I agree, there’s something fishy going on.
He should “Get the Hook!”.
> ...yet then turned right around and said Bush coined nonsense words like Misunderestimate
Evidently, President Bush coined a useful word — “misunderestimating” was used by Peter Catapano in a New York Times article on April 29, 2011:
Excerpt: Are we misunderestimating the man who has monopolized an outsized portion of a vast media space in recent weeks and forced the hand of the President of the United States?

> How many times would Letterman, Jon Stewart, etc. have replayed this if W had made the same mistake?
Obama has also claimed that the U.S. has 57 states and that Hawaii is in Asia. Did the MSM and various show hosts make fun of him?
The pressure’s getting to him!
