...Democrats hold a 39-28 majority, have said they believe they have the support to approve a bill legalizing gay marriage. If they feel they have so much support, put it on a ballot and let the people vote for or against it. Every time it's put to the voters, it's been defeated. The only states that have it are ones where the legislature, all Demorat controlled, have passed it and the Demorat Gubner signed it.

Minnesota’s pro-marriage amendment failed to pass by popular vote last year, getting 47%. The three states that have recognized ‘gay marriage’ by popular voting process last year are Maine, Maryland, and Washington.
To the state, marriage is whatever judges, pols, or 51% of the voting public thinks it is at any one time. That’s it, that’s all it can ever be to the state, at least in the modern era.

I'm sorry, but that's just not true.
It was once upon a time, but last November took that argument away from us. Gay marriage was on the ballot in four states, including Minnesota, and won every single state. A clean sweep for them.
That's why the Minnesota legislators are now "brave" enough to step forward and put their names to it; Minnesota has already gone to the ballot box and said gay marriage is just fine and dandy.
It's important to acknowledge the steep hill we're now facing if we have any hope of making the climb.

Wrong. It was approved by voters three times last November, with a fourth state (Minnesota) voting to reject an amendment defining marriage between a man and a woman.

Every time it's put to the voters, it's been defeated. The only states that have it are ones where the legislature, all Demorat controlled, have passed it and the Demorat Gubner signed it. Minnesota did vote on it. In 2012, opponents of same-sex marriage put a constitutional amendment on the ballot to ban same-sex marriage. It was defeated.
Also in 2012, voters approved same-sex marriage in Maine, Maryland and Washington State.
