Former SecDef Gates was -- as far as I can gather -- never accused of being a "conservative." He was doubtless not kept on by the Obama Administration because of any "Tea Party" leanings.

This article, if accurate, says that he is a RINO on steroids, at best, and a committed globalist/progressive at worst.

I suspect he is trying to "cover" for his former colleagues at the Pentagon and in the Obama Administration.

Would not have sent a "single aircraft?" Wait, what if it had been HILLARY who was in trouble? I bet he would have sent even more than one aircraft in that event, but. . . . after all, she is "IMPORTANT!"

Well . . . sure! I mean, who doesn’t trust what Gates says?

I don't think he's trying to cover for anyone. This is just him being his normal weaselly self. This dirtbag helped Obama deep-six the F-22. That was also Gates being Gates.

I thought going into harm’s way was why we bothered to have a military — special forces, in particular — in the first place.

But, Gates, there were aircraft over the battle, UAVs. So not send a single aircraft is not entirely correct is it?

As to your other comments, sorry, but it is clear you have decided, willfully, to go laong with the koolaid drinkers.

Those people at the annex could have been saved by intervention, and it could have been ordered. That you would not have ordered it just reveals a lot about yourself.

The ones at the consulate could have been saved by simply giving them the security capabilities they needed...you know, what they asked for. What they were begging for.

So, you may say all you wish and hobknob around on the talk shows to cover your handlers, but those in the know have testified and indicated very clearly that forces were available and could have been sent in.

The Israelis had no trouble with the vaunted Syrian air defenses. This is embarrassing that we’ve now announced to the world we can’t get to a trouble spot in less than 8 to 20 hours.

And we’re afraid of a bunch of rebels in Libya.

Before joining POTUS #43 GWB, aka, el presidente jorge arbusto los dos, administration as SoD, he served as the volunteer president of the National Eagle Scout Asscociation. Gates is a recipient of the Distinguished Eagle Scout award - awarded to Eagle Scouts at least 25 years after they earned their youth award. It is a recognition of execeptional accomplishment/service in the working world. Former SoD Donald Rumsfeld is also a DESA recipient.

FEB 2010 - SoD Robert Gates approved the proposed policy and signed letters formally notifying Congress of the intent to authorize women to serve onboard submarines.

12/22/2010 – The Don't Ask, Don't Tell Repeal Act of 2010 was passed by the lame duck 111th Congress – the House on 12/15, the Senate on 12/18 and signed into law by POTUS #44 BHO on 12/22, to permit homosexuals, for the 1st time ever, to openly serve in the U.S. military. The Secretary of Defense, Robert Gates, (a Republican who had previously served in the same capacity under POTUS #43 GWB) had been instructed by POTUS #44 BHO nearly 2 years earlier to orchestrate the go-ahead recommendation from Joints Chief of Staff Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen (who in turn had been appointed CNO – Chief of Naval Operations by POTUS #43 GWB) and other like-minded general officers in the services, despite widespread opposition among retired officers, active-duty officers, and the enlisted ranks.

He will rightly be remembered in the "U.S. Infamy Hall of Shame."

Excellent Post.

So, if Pres Obama is the Liberal Messiah, Pres Bush was his forerunnner — and Gates was the buttboy for both, apparently. (Figuratively speaking, of course.)

Gates told host Bob Schieffer on CBS's "Face the Nation" there was no time to reach the Americans under attack in Benghazi - and had he been in the job at the time, "my decision would have been just as theirs were."

Smoke screen, Lie. What about armed drones? There is no excuse but that Obozo denied Cross Border Authorization.

Special prosecutor goals:
1) What did the president know, and
2) When did he know it?

Bush gave us Gates and Bernanke. He tried to push amnesty through on his watch. He put the CEO of Goldman Sachs, Henry Paulson, into the Secretary of the Treasury role just in time to ensure Wall Street was bailed out during the 2008 financial crisis. He tried to give put Harriet Myers on the Supreme Court. Thank goodness conservatives raised hell and we ended up with Alito.

Dear Bob: We evidently had people on the ground with telephones and a drone overhead providing real time video. Gosh, if only we could get those bad Libyan people to just line up on a bombing range in Nevada. Weren’t we just bombing Libya to overthrow the government? Did the Libyan air defense change much from the time Obama was bombing Libya until he was going to bomb Libya again? Bobby, you’re a putz.

There is no way he or anyone could have known in advance how long the fighting would last. It could have been 1 hour or 1 day. There’s no way he could have known, therefore he is a liar and a coward.
