"Helping to free three women from nearly a decade in captivity would seem to be enough. Neighbor Charles Ramsey has also become a star, offering moments of levity in an unspeakably horrible story, free publicity for a restaurant chain and unexpected lessons in race relations.
Ramsey lived next door to where Ariel Castro is alleged to have kept the women in a makeshift prison until Monday afternoon.
Or let him tell it: "I got the day off from work, so naturally you're doing nothing."
Actually, he was "eating my McDonald's," a fact he trumpeted so frequently that the grateful food giant is trying to get in touch with him. A website that compiled some of Ramsey's television interviews kept count of how many times he mentioned McDonald's in each.
Ramsey's realization of what was happening on Monday was itself a revealing observation on race. Seeing a white girl in that situation was "a dead giveaway" that she was either homeless or had other problems, he said.
"When a little pretty white girl ran into a black man's arms, something was wrong," That sentence itself made Ramsey's interviewer uncomfortable. But the sound bite was also highlighted in a parody song and posted online. The phrases picked out for the song like "we eat ribs with this dude" also seemed to emphasize Ramsey's blackness.
Ramsey is the latest "hilarious black neighbor" to become an Internet celebrity, wrote Aisha Harris on the website Slate. "It's difficult to watch these videos and not sense their popularity has something to do with a persistent, if unconscious, desire to see black people perform," she wrote.
"I would like for him to be remembered, as he said, as a good man who did what anyone else would have done in that situation," she said."

Where?
Charles Ramsey, Cleveland neighbor who helped free women, was domestic abuser
http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/lookout/charles-ramsey-domestic-violence-211150810.html
Charles Ramsey is a true hero. And he is funny as hell! If you listen carefully, he’s quite astute, mixes in a pretty good vocabulary with pithy and descriptive colloquialisms and idiom. He paints a very vivid picture with just a few words.
Quite frankly, this guy could have a career as a standup comedian.
Too bad he’s a violent domestic abusers :(
Yeah....too bad we know more about him in 48 hours than we know about the “O” in 5 years....
He is just being himself, and WTH is wrong with that?!
He did a great job and doesn’t think himself a hero, just what anyone would have done..... How many stories have we read where people don’t want to get involved? He DID! He is being maligned because he dared to speak in a non PC voice about a Pretty White Girl... Sounds refreshing to me.
Thank you Charles for your giving a sh1t!
we don’t know anything about the Benghazi survivors yet either.
Today’s line, as he was hugged by women at the airport, was the best...”The only way I could be hugged by so many white women is if I had Bill Gates’ money.”
Seriously, he’s had his problems, but he did his time and appears to have come out better than he went in, and I’ll give the guy credit for that.
I don’t watch much tv and don’t know the details of the story, Guess I wasn’t liking the racism spin from the article
that’s all I was trying to do with the post, everything has to come down to race for some people
the story just seemed to want make him into another victim of the ‘white man’
does the left realize when they marginalize people by categorizing them as a minority and not a person they are objectifying them?
i don’t think they do
eh they probably do which makes it even more evil
I eat McDonald's
I eat ribs
I am so white I don't go to the beach to get a tan; I go to neutralize the blue.
Apologies to the late George Carlin
“I would like for him to be remembered, as he said, as a good man who did what anyone else would have done in that situation,” she said.”
Yes, agreed, but the fact remains he did what NO ONE ELSE HAD DONE in all those years.
He IS a hero, let us appreciate him for what he did.
Simply, inadvertently, by accident, HOWEVER
He freed those women. Nobody else did that.
This has been a scary story.
I, myself, have a family member who “disapeared” a long time ago.
It is one thing to think your sister/daughter/whoever is dead, it is quite another to think she is a captive in a Cleveland basement.
That horror will go on, but not for these women.
Thanks to that ONE MAN, a hero.
Kudos to you sir.
I will buy your autotune, because $1.00 is all I can afford, but you do deserve recompense, you do.
But.... haven't we seen this guy before?
In many states, domestic abusers share the same website as sex abusers.
I'm not claiming something similar happened to this guy. I don't know his history but I do know divorce lawyers use this tactic - the liberal side of the Republican vs democrat on my local am radio in the morning admitted this happens. He is a divorce lawyer.
The subject came up during a debate about whether or not my state should revisit who exactly goes on the sex abuse website.
The reason why the subject came up was because of an incident where a man was murdered by strangers because they saw his name on the website and automatically assumed he was a child molester.
Leave it to the lamestream to dig up the dirt in his past.
No good deed goes unpunished.
It wasn’t sexual abuse to my memory, they referenced Domestic Violence..... Husband/ Wife fight and cops called
Exactly. The press investigates who they want to investigate.
And today we also find out that Cruz was a very smart law student. What kind of law student was Barack Hussein?
