Responding to news that a libertarian activist is organizing an Independence Day rally in which he hopes to lead a group of people carrying loaded rifles through the District, D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier said in a television interview today that her department will meet such a group at the city line.
The demonstration is being organized by Adam Kokesh, a former marine who currently hosts an Internet radio show. On the Facebook page announcing the event, Kokesh writes what is essentially a challenge to the Metropolitan Police Department, stating that he expects his group will get the same escort that MPD provides to other demonstrations that course through the city streets.
Kokesh, who did not reply to several requests for an interview, has described the march as non-violent event. He writes in the rally's description that if the march, which is scheduled to begin on the Virginia side of the Arlington Memorial Bridge, is met by D.C. police officers, he will volunteer himself to determine "what their actual course of action with someone crossing the line will be."
Registered ownership of certain types of firearms is legal in D.C., which has some of the strictest gun laws in the country, but carrying them outside—whether concealed or openly—is illegal...

This can only end badly; as in massacre (in otherwords the D.C. ADAM KOKESH is a fool, and will be labled one especially when this does happen (unless he calls it off)-but I suppose if God wills it.(by the way I DO NOT endorse this in any way, ever..)!
Kokesh seems like a useful tool for the left to lock up all of patient peace loving conservative Americans...

The only way this would out for Kokesh would be if there were 10X as many rolling cameras at the event than guns and they were all streaming to internet archives and all the people marching were thoroughly vetted as to make for damned sure there are no agent provocateurs...

The fact is that the US constitution can be enforced by ANY citizen of the United States. Oh we have become accustomed in the last 150 years to having government enforce it, but we do not need the courts or the government to enforce the Constitution.
Adam Kokesh will attempt to directly enforce the 2nd amendment against the DC police department. The outcome remains to be seen.I am cheering for them.

Both ends of the Arlington Memorial Bridge are in D.C. — the city line runs along the west bank of the Potomac — the west (Virginia) end of the bridge sits on an island — to quote a FReeper — “The traffic circle and bridgehead on the “Virginia side” of Memorial Bridge is actually within the boundaries of the District of Columbia and is under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service.”

Thanks for quoting me. Another small point. On the 4th of July thousands of Americans will be trying to cross over the Memorial Bridge on their way to the Mall. As in past years (since 9/11) there is a 100% bag check and metal wand of every person before reaching the bridge. Kokesh has not a clue of the situation. He s a blow hard and any dolt who thinks to join him will be facing hard time.

Tell you what I’d do. I would stage at the bridge and show lots of rifles for the cameras. Then I would have the people march across the bridge and arrive in front of the D.C. police with toy rifles. And then I’d have my people point at them and laugh our butts off.
