The US Senate on Monday passed a bill aimed at ending tax-free shopping on the internet but the move looks set to face fierce opposition before it becomes law.
The Marketplace Fairness Act, which has cross-party supporter and the backing of powerful retailers, would give states the power to require retailers with sales over $1m to collect state and local sales taxes for online purchases.

Indeed.
H.R. 684: The Marketplace Fairness Act. This is the House version of the Tax bill.
Log on to POPVOX and tell your Rep how you want them to vote on this issue.
The demokrats and their RINO lackeys are determined to sink this economy.
The more innocuous the name, the more dangerous the bill.
Depends if Bohener is on the more tax side. If he is against it, he will never allow a vote on it. If he is for it, there are enough RINOs who will side with the Rats to pass it.

Wicker of MS is voting like his cousin Fred Thompson would have had Fred still been in the Senate.
I have no problem with that. But, given their desire to be a pain in the ass, I expect that one delivery a week to be Saturday.
Barry Goldwater had moved far to the left by 1974; he was no longer the 1964 model for most of his later career. People in AZ just never knew.
Here is the actual roll call. . .
A “No Vote” is a “Yea.” Add Jeff Flake (R-AZ) to the list of traitors.
Well, well. No more local purchases except for monthly routine items, and no more purchases from the bigger, fatter out-of-state companies.
John Cornyn also sat out the vote. This is probably an unpopular tax in TX, where sales taxes are already high. Cornyn probably doesn’t understand that.
Yeah, I knew. Second wife, pillow talk, loved gays, abortion good. Poof. Barry Goldwater wasn’t Barry Goldwater when he croaked.
Flake was already flaking out even before he went to the Senate. It’s just that AZ Republican primary voters are too uninformed to notice.
I got an email from my RINO senator with the usual talking points about how it wasn’t really a tax increase and they were just making it “fair” for the poor merchants who sold locally.
Follow the lobbyist money.
I am skeptical this new regulation will help competition.
The latter day Goldwater made Thomas E. Dewey seem kind of conservative.
I stand corrected. Flake got in and voted “Nay!”
Representative XXXX,
Please do not vote for the Internet sales tax.
Obamacare is already driving small businesses out of business. The Internet is one of the few places where individual entrepreneurs can compete with the big-government/big-corporate criminal complex. Make these entrepreneurs do the bookkeeping for sales taxes in fifty states, and you will succeed in driving most of the remainder out of business.
Maybe that's your plan. If it's not, then voting for this tax will bring it to pass anyway.
Sincerely,
E. Pluribus Unum
