FARGO Two of three men who confronted a group of juveniles they suspected of terrorizing a south Fargo neighborhood Saturday night have been charged with a crime.
The case puts a spotlight on the risk residents take when they intervene in what they believe is illegal behavior, police said.
And because the confrontation between three men and three 15-year-old boys involved firearms, the incident has parents wondering how close their children came to being shot.

As always the parents don't seem to know what the big deal is over their innocent little children.
I guess that it’s legal in North Dakota for 15 year old kids to drive SUVs without an adult in the car? I know far younger kids can drive farm (i.e., off-road) equipment.
I think these guys need to get a jury trial.
Earlier this week, Mr NEMDF chased down some kids who had been repeatedly cutting through the yard and climbing the fence. Drove around the block and found them all out playing basketball. The mother came out while he was yelling at the boys (from inside the car), and the first thing she said was she was sure they did not understand they should not cut through there. Yeah... they are probably not younger than 7th grade, and there are NO TRESPASSING signs, besides we have yelled at them numerous times. There is a high literacy rate in our neighborhood, so I don’t think that is the problem. The next time, we will call the police.
You can get a permit at only 14 in ND.
What she meant is that she and their father (if there is one) have not taught their brats to respect personal property.

Do the young permit holder have to have an adult or at least a licensed driver with him when they’re driving late at night?
I’m so used to the restrictive driving laws here in the People’s Democratic Republic of Maryland.
I am always amazed how much crime the police will ignore.
But how quick and determines the police become if they think “citizens” might try to stop crime themselves.
Can have those citizens getting uppity.
Conservatives need to elect constitutional sheriffs in their counties. I have one. He sends his deputies on stake-outs to catch punks who vandalize and break into buildings. It works. Elected sheriffs are very responsive to their voting constituents. Get one today before they’re all gone.
Iowa also has “school licenses” for 14 year olds.
...sounds like your typical Red Hampshire parents...neither kids NOR parents have any respect for private property...
I would not have pressed charges against the victims, but apparently the Fargo police thought it would be politically beneficial to do so. As a juror, I would need a whole lot of convincing, and the word of the hoodlums (driving around unsupervised at 11:00 pm???) would be unlikely to do the job. Just as the government lost black trust long ago and could not convict OJ even of an obvious murder with extensive evidence, the government has lost my confidence and trust, and they will need a whole lot on their side to convict someone who is accused of something ambiguous. Sorry, but I’m not going to automatically believe these brats were on an innocent iced tea and Skittles run.
This is how kids turn out when they are given a ‘time out’ instead of an ass-tanning on their early days...
These ‘children’ are lying thru their damn teeth...parents, as well.
The parents are probably of limited intelligence and don’t know what their kids have been up to.
They really should have brought different weapons when confronting the kids. A cattle prod would be more to the point, and maybe a thick leather belt. If one had a gun, it should be concealed carry, and not brandished unless absolutely necessary.
They should have beaten the tails off those little sh**s long ago.
It’s the parents that teach their children respect, respect for their elders, for other peoples property, etc. My Grandson is five and has no problem understanding when I teach him to respect other neighbors property.
Probably not. The parental units need some training.
The indifference with which this case was treated by the FPD is the reason it escalated as it did.
