Apparently a lot of people who know nothing reside at the top levels of the Obama administration. Why does that not come as a surprise?
Its probably because the tone of any organization is set from the top, the very pointy top.
Still its surprising that the administration that knows more about banking than bankers, more about healthcare than doctors, more firearms than people who legally possess arms, more about budgets than citizens who have to balance their checkbooks and more about practically everything than anyone else, would admit that on a few things, they really know nothing.
On most days it's hard to tell him he's wrong about anything, recently confessed one top Democrat about the Commander in Brief.
Its seems equally hard to TELL him about anything too.
But here it is:
Obama knows nothing about Benghazi.
He knows nothing about Bostons Tsarnaev brothers.
He knows nothing about Fast and Furious; he knows nothing about green energy loans, either.
Yes, the man who recently proclaimed: I AM IN CHARGE NOW, FINALLY! knows nothing.
This seems strange coming from the administration that leaked every damn detail about how Barack Obama personally hunted down and killed Osama bin Laden, while simultaneously saving Detroit from bankruptcy saved Detroit at least until after the election in 2012, that is.
The I dont know claim is not just at odds with the know-it-all-ness of the administration either. Its at odds with what others are saying, others who seem to know what they are talking about.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia sent a written warning about accused Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in 2012, reports the U.K.s Daily Mail, long before pressure-cooker blasts killed three and injured hundreds, according to a senior Saudi government official with direct knowledge of the document.
The Department of Homeland Security and the White House however say they know nothing about it.
From the Daily Mail:
'DHS has no knowledge of any communication from the Saudi government regarding information on the suspects in the Boston Marathon Bombing prior to the attack,' MailOnline learned from one Homeland Security official who declined to be named in this report.
The White House took a similar view. 'We and other relevant U.S. government agencies have no record of such a letter being received,' said Caitlin Hayden, a spokesperson for the presidents National Security Council.Who? Us? We never got the message.
Russia had similar problems being understood in Washington says the Boston Globe: In a closed briefing on Tuesday, members of the Senate Intelligence Committee learned that Russia alerted the United States about Tsarnaev in multiple contacts -- including at least once since October 2011, said Richard Burr, a Republican of North Carolina, speaking with reporters afterward.
Obama? As I said, he knows nothing about it.
Too busy playing golf.
The Government Accountability Institute (GAI) says that in 2012 Obama spent less time on intelligence briefings than at any other time during his presidency. Last year Obama had 125 daily intelligence briefings on his calendar, availing himself of the daily briefing only 34.2 percent of the time. These briefing are most likely where a topics like Hey, someone might be trying to blow-up the Boston Marathon next year, might come up.
That means that Obama attended on average only 2.5 personal intelligence briefings for every seven-day week. Thats like showing up for your job on Monday, Wednesday and every other Friday.
They dont call them daily briefings for nothing.
By contrast, the GAI says that Obama played 976 hours of golf while president of the United States.
The presidents daily briefing (PBD) has its roots in the Truman administration, although reporters often mistakenly say it started in 1961. Truman used to get a summary of the overnight developments that he called his newspaper, followed by a short briefing by a Naval Intelligence officer.
Bush had his PDBs from 8am to 9am.
Assuming one hour for daily intelligence briefings, Obama has spent 645 hours (of a possible 1800) on daily intelligence briefings and 976 on golf over the course of his presidency.
So, yes, of course he knows nothing.
Its nice though that, finally, the administration is willing to admit they are as ignorant as the rest of us knew they were all along.
I know obama has been, is and will remain over his head as POTUS. He was a junior senator that voted “present” most of the time. His whole life he has ridden the system using his race as leverage, why would his current position be any different?.......it’s all he knows and the whole country suffers for it.
The bothersome reply
"I don't know that we teach it. I don't know that we emphasize it. I haven't heard it discussed for a long time in public discourse. I don't know. I don't know all the circumstances under which that statement was made. I understand the philosophical background behind it, but I don't know a lot about it, and I don't think others know a lot about it."
The reporter wrote, "On whether his church still holds that God the Father was once a man, he sounded uncertain." That's an unfortunate conclusion. Of course I wasn't at the interview and neither were you but I'll bet the reporter mistook careful thoughtfulness for uncertainty. This doctrine is indeed deep territory and not something that is taught outside the LDS Church.
An earlier and similar interview
The San Francisco Chronicle, published an interview with President Hinckley in April of 1997. The reporter asked, "There are some significant differences in your beliefs. For instance, don't Mormon's believe that God was once a man?" President Hinckley responded, "I wouldn't say that. There is a little couplet coined, 'As man is, God once was. As God is, man may become.'"
He then said, "Now that's more of a couplet than anything else. That gets into some pretty deep theology that we don't know very much about." The reporter pounced on this. "So you're saying that the church is still struggling to understand this? " President Hinckley responded, "Well, as God is, man may become. We believe in eternal progression. Very strongly."
President Hinckley's response
President Hinckley said in October 1997 General Conference: "I personally have been much quoted, and in a few instances misquoted and misunderstood. I think that's to be expected. None of you need worry because you read something that was incompletely reported. You need not worry that I do not understand some matters of doctrine.
"I think I understand them thoroughly, and it is unfortunate that the reporting may not make this clear. I hope you will never look to the public press as the authority on the doctrines of the Church." And there lies the whole point of my post today. Some members did indeed become a little concerned by the exchanges they read in the press reports of those interviews.
Does the Church still teach this?
I know this is old news but it still bothers some people when they discover the anti-Mormon attacks floating around on the Internet. President Hinckley was right. We really don't know much about how our Heavenly Father became a God. The idea that he passed through a mortal probationary state like you and me is certainly not documented in any scripture of which I know.
However, it is still taught. In the Gospel Principles manual in the chapter on exaltation we read, "Joseph Smith taught: "It is the first principle of the Gospel to know for a certainty the character of God. . . . He was once a man like us; . . . God himself, the Father of us all, dwelt on an earth, the same as Jesus Christ himself did" (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, pp. 345-46)."
Summary and conclusion
I don't know why this should bother anyone. The doctrine is true. Joseph Smith knew a whole lot more about this than I do. President Hinckley also knew a whole lot more about this doctrine than he was willing to share with reporters who did not have the background to understand it. It must have been difficult for President Hinckley to hold back and not teach it in those interviews.
It didn't bother me when I read the interviews back in 1997 and it doesn't bother me today. However, I know it does bother some people. We each have trials of our faith. I have never depended on an intellectual understanding of the gospel in order to accept it and live it. There are some things that just can't be fully comprehended without the temple, prayer and faith.
There are some things that just can't be fully comprehended without the temple, prayer and faith.
It must be remembered the man is not white, not knowing is a cultural thing.
knows nothing...that’s because it happened so long ago!

Billionaire business mogul Penny Pritzker is a member of one of Americas richest families and was the Finance Chair for the presidential campaign of Barack Obama. It was Pritzker that led the prolific, and illegal, fundraising that helped power Barack Obamas presidential campaign. She was the chair of Chicago-based Superior Banks board for five years. Pritzker was into subprime lending before it became all the rage starting in around 2000. Prtizker's chairmanship was to concentrate on sub prime lending, principally on home mortgages, but for a while in subprime auto lending, too, after the Pritzkers' bank acquired its wholesale mortgage organization division, Alliance Funding, in December 1992. Superior Bank went belly up in 2001 with over $1 billion in insured and uninsured deposits; 1,406 depositors lost much of their life savings. This collapse came amid harsh criticism of how Superiors owners promoted sub-prime home mortgages. |

Yeah, in Carney’s logic 8 month is 800 years ago
And we are CERTAIN, without a shadow of a doubt, that Bin Laden is indeed, at the bottom of the ocean? Who actually saw the bag dropped over the side of that ship? Name one person who actually witnessed the burial at sea. My bet is that you will NEVER find anyone that was a witness.

Interesting but they didn’t factor in bowling, basketball, White House parties, etc.
Why is anyone surprised? Obama has always wanted power without responsibility, just as he expects adulation without achievement.
He sure knows how to fundementally transform the United States Of America.
Yeah, he’s not doing that alone though. He’s had a lot of help from geriatric hippies and geneally stupid and ignorant people. Also, some that hate our country and probably themselves.
I know nothing... either!
You reporters, go about your business now. All the rest of you... look right here!
How Obama see George Washington: "Apple tree... I know nothing of any apple tree?"
Ohhhhhhhhh! I am always so satisfied when Obama... knows nothing!
So Obama knows nothing about State stonewalling survivors of Benghazi, it is an old story, so what... difference does it make?
I knew my portrayal of Obama at the White House Correspondents' Dinner was good... and my following performance at the press conference was better, but another Oscar is just way too much!
Party ownership of the print media
made it easy to manipulate public opinion,
and the film and radio carried the process further.
....... The Ministry of Truth, Winston's place of work, contained, it was said, three thousand rooms above ground level, and corresponding ramifications below. The Ministry of Truth concerned itself with Lies. Party ownership of the print media made it easy to manipulate public opinion, and the film and radio carried the process further. The primary job of the Ministry of Truth was to supply the citizens of Oceania with newspapers, films, textbooks, telescreen programmes, plays, novels - with every conceivable kind of information, instruction, or entertainment, from a statue to a slogan, from a lyric poem to a biological treatise, and from a child's spelling-book to a Newspeak dictionary. Winston worked in the RECORDS DEPARTMENT (a single branch of the Ministry of Truth) editing and writing for The Times. He dictated into a machine called a speakwrite. Winston would receive articles or news-items which for one reason or another it was thought necessary to alter, or, in Newspeak, rectify. If, for example, the Ministry of Plenty forecast a surplus, and in reality the result was grossly less, Winston's job was to change previous versions so the old version would agree with the new one. This process of continuous alteration was applied not only to newspapers, but to books, periodicals, pamphlets, posters, leaflets, films, sound-tracks, cartoons, photographs - to every kind of literature or documentation which might conceivably hold any political or ideological significance. When his day's work started, Winston pulled the speakwrite towards him, blew the dust from its mouthpiece, and put on his spectacles. He dialed 'back numbers' on the telescreen and called for the appropriate issues of The Times, which slid out of the pneumatic tube after only a few minutes' delay. The messages he had received referred to articles or news-items which for one reason or another it was thought necessary to rectify. In the walls of the cubicle there were three orifices. To the right of the speakwrite, a small pneumatic tube for written messages; to the left, a larger one for newspapers; and on the side wall, within easy reach of Winston's arm, a large oblong slit protected by a wire grating. This last was for the disposal of waste paper. Similar slits existed in thousands or tens of thousands throughout the building, not only in every room but at short intervals in every corridor. For some reason they were nicknamed memory holes. When one knew that any document was due for destruction, or even when one saw a scrap of waste paper lying about, it was an automatic action to lift the flap of the nearest memory hole and drop it in, whereupon it would be whirled away on a current of warm air to the enormous furnaces which were hidden somewhere in the recesses of the building. As soon as Winston had dealt with each of the messages, he clipped his speakwritten corrections to the appropriate copy of The Times and pushed them into the pneumatic tube. Then, with a movement which was as nearly as possible unconscious, he crumpled up the original message and any notes that he himself had made, and dropped them into the memory hole to be devoured by the flames. What happened in the unseen labyrinth to which the tubes led, he did not know in detail, but he did know in general terms. As soon as all the corrections which happened to be necessary in any particular number of The Times had been assembled and collated, that number would be reprinted, the original copy destroyed, and the corrected copy placed on the files in its stead. In the cubicle next to him the little woman with sandy hair toiled day in day out, simply at tracking down and deleting from the Press the names of people who had been vaporized and were therefore considered never to have existed. And this hall, with its fifty workers or thereabouts, was only one-sub-section, a single cell, as it were, in the huge complexity of the Records Department. Beyond, above, below, were other swarms of workers engaged in an unimaginable multitude of jobs. There were huge printing-shops and their sub editors, their typography experts, and their elaborately equipped studios for the faking of photographs. There was the tele-programmes section with its engineers, its producers and its teams of actors specially chosen for their skill in imitating voices; clerks whose job was simply to draw up lists of books and periodicals which were due for recall; vast repositories where the corrected documents were stored; and the hidden furnaces where the original copies were destroyed. And somewhere or other, quite anonymous, there were the directing brains who co-ordinated the whole effort and laid down the lines of policy which made it necessary that this fragment of the past should be preserved, that one falsified, and the other rubbed out of existence. |
