Reid: More funding needed to prevent ObamaCare from becoming 'train wreck' By Alexander Bolton - 05/01/13 05:45 PM ET
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) says he shares colleagues concerns that the Affordable Care Act could become a train wreck if its not implemented properly.
Reid warned that people will not be able to choose health insurance plans on government health exchanges if federal authorities lack the resources to set them up and educate the public.
Max said unless we implement this properly its going to be a train wreck and I agree with him, Reid said, echoing a warning delivered last month by Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D-Mont.).
Reid warned the federal government is not spending enough money to implement the law because of Republican opposition to ObamaCare.
Heres what we have now, we have the menu but we dont have any way to get to the menu, Reid said.
Reid made his comments during an hour-long interview on The Rusty Humphries Show broadcast Wednesday afternoon from Las Vegas.
The shortage of funding to implement the law has forced President Obama to shift funds from other parts of the law.
The president is taking money, I wish we had the money just to do this on its own but hes agreed, hes determined hes going to take money from some of the other things that he feels are less important in the healthcare bill and put it on letting you and others know whats in the bill, Reid told a caller to the show.
Reid defended the need for the law, which dramatically expanded federal healthcare subsidies for the uninsured.
I believe that a country of our size, the only superpower left in the world its not right that we have 50-60 million people with no health insurance, he said. We have to have a program where health insurance shouldnt go to people who are rich, people who are upper-middle class. I believe the middle class and people below the middle class deserve to go to the hospital when theyre sick.
Reid said he was well familiar with the law, which spanned as long as 2,000 pages when it was a bill, before it passed.
Of course I read it. I didnt sit down on a Friday evening and read it. This legislation was drafted over a period of months and months, he said. I can pass a test on it, I knew the law pretty well.
Nuts!
Didn’t see that coming! Snort!
FLUSH
The republican leftists in the House have shown they will fund the hated obummerCare.
Excellent! Nominated for comment of the day.
Talk about throwing good money after bad. Just shut up, Harry. You are a dirt bag.
I like train wrecks.
We can still kill Obamacare by NOT increasing the funding originally passed. Clearly, we have to depose Boehner to do it. Time to make some calls.
More funding ?
Uh huh........
the are laying the groundwork for its obvious trainwreck failure. this is the way they try to blame republicans for it. since none voted for it originally.
now its we need more money to make sure it works. gee so much for heeding the warnings before passing the stupid thing.
i believe reid is even more evil than obama. if one can be.
This is laughable - it’s a train wreck, period, as anyone with any sense predicted it would be. “More funding” would just make it a bigger train that wrecks.
This funding argument is to create a narrative to blame it on the Sequester and therefore the fault of the Republicans rather than the nature of the legislation itself.
this is posturing. the left knows this is gonna crash hard. they know they own it. this is purely a ploy to give the ‘rats an opportunity to say “It wouldve been great if we’d just had a little more money” instead of them being solely responsible for it.
So the meme for 2014 is -- Obamacare, which the Republicans opposed, will be a disaster of epic proportions because Republicans are opposed to it?
Next time read the bill.
Dem double down dimentia.
O.K. dumb ass, get on board and put yourself and all the rest of you're colleagues under odumbocare or SHUT UP ALREADY!.
