Let’s face it—on nearly every important issue, from gun control to immigration to gay marriage, red states are holding America back. Lee Siegel on why the South should get the hell out of the union.
Let’s not be fooled by all the bipartisan rhetoric that has been streaming out of the GOP since Romney’s self-destruction. Hundreds of thousands of petitioners in a handful of red states still want to secede? Well, don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
A solid block of Southern states continues to refuse to expand Medicaid, thus squashing one of the linchpins of the president’s health-care reform. The South will likely be the last and most stubborn battleground in the fight for gay marriage. Gun control? The more the two sides seem to get cozier with each other, the faster gun-control legislation gets watered down—and more and more red states are passing laws making it legal to carry a concealed weapon. As for immigration, the red states seem to be relaxing their anti-immigrant fervor, but nothing approaching new legislation is even on the horizon.
The sad truth is that “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” can only be achieved at this point if the nation is split in half. Far from being fanciful or fanatical, the proponents of secession have a stronger grasp of political reality than just about anyone else. In fact, there are serious reasons why the North itself should take the lead in a secessionist movement.
Just think what America would look like without its mostly Southern states. (We could retain “America”: they could call themselves “Smith & Wesson” or “Coca-Cola” or something like that.) Universal health care. No guns. Strong unions. A humane minimum wage....

As has been said many time before on this blog—the scumbag libs decimate a state and then move on to further decimate their destination state. Any voting Rats should be blocked from leaving their state, to rot with what they have created.
Liberals want conservatives to shut up and conservatives want liberals to keep right on talking.

I do not want the south to secede, not practical, but can we de-cede (is that a word?) some states from the union?
Add Minnestoopid to that list. The legislature there just passed another tax increase to further drive business out. BTW, we’ll keep the Dakotas, Montana, and Wyoming. We will need to chase out the California invaders from Colorado.
So if the Yankee states do secede and set up their “progressive” paradise living on the backs of the remaining productive people there, will the USSA charge a prohibitive exit tax to keep the producers in place?

By mountain ranges, do you mean the 14,000' Sierra Nevada in eastern California and the 14,000' Rockies in Colorado, or the 14,000' Sierra Nevada and the 4,000' Appalachians in the east?

I wish half this country would form another country, but with one caveat: No one from the liberal nation can ever come to the American nation. They could call themselves Amerika, we can call ourselves America. This nation was not founded on Marxism, so they don’t get to use the name.
I agree. Any state that wishes to secede from the deluded morons in blue states should do so. Then the reality of just how bad their ideas are will be in stark relief. Conservative states will flourish, while liberal states will become like much of Africa.
Hey, I have an idea. You in the NE must take Austin, most of Houston, Dallas, Ft Worth, the south Texas area and you have a deal.
If Red States did secede I would definitely leave CA and move to the New World.

Most liberals are Luddites. They fear machinery or any technological advancements. It is too much for their little heads to understand.
Actually even up here in New Hampshire many of the smaller towns would like the liberals to leave us alone. The real split in most of the country is cities vs. the countryside. Without the urban voters even states like Pennsylvania or New York are fairly conservative. Of course some places, like Massachusetts, are a lost cause.
I understand Austin, but what’s wrong with DFW? I live in Denton and to me, it’s the greatest place to live in the US.

Me too. It is the other nuts who are destroying this country. We could be the Constitutional United States of America. The more I read about some congress critters, the more I think their voters are stuck on stupid. How can any sane person keep on electing Reid, Boxer, pelosi and all the other dems? Add some reps to that too.

The libs are being used by a foreign power to destroy America. Deindustrializing the north through anti business policies, and industrializing the south while quietly encouraging secession is part of their strategy. A divided America will no longer be a superpower. The libs are pawns in this scheme. Don’t fall for this ploy. A united country is a strong country. Many of us in the North are conservative, family values, gun owning Americans working hard every day to get libs out if office and straighten this country out.
Expulsion is the word you are looking for. New England, New York City, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco and LA should be expelled from the Union.
Oh you better believe it! Texas, in fact all of Dixie & beyond who chose to- SECEDE!
Sadly, I think this is satire. (They will release the Golden Goose- taxpayers- only when it is limp with death & they have assured themselves that they have wrung every possible means of stripping our assets.)
