I'd like to call your attention to the fact that Indianapolis has only 2 really bad neighborhoods in this list ~ which is good. Also, my old home ZIP CODE isn't one of them ~ which is also really good ~ a good thing actually ~ a Martha Stewart good thing. It used to get ranked regularly as the worst in the Midwest ~ now you can look to Detroit for that factoid.

My travels with the Postal Service took me to every single one of these really bad neighborhoods where I would end up actually being on the streets at 2 AM (After work) and sometimes looking for an open restaurant on foot. There's always one the criminal elite hang out at ~ usually chili ~ sometimes spaghetti ~ the only time I was ever shot at was on College Avenue just North of Washington Street ~ hillbillies on both sides of the street decided to have a shootout as I drove through.

All in all I"d say America is getting more stable, if not better ~ all these places were bad then, they're still bad, but Indianapolis is better. The good guys are winning.

EEEK....I stayed in West Memphis, AR in the Super 8 near one of the TOP 25 Dangerous Neighborhoods. I was in town for a Liberty Bowl game a few yrs ago. Did not get mugged or shot....but caught a nasty flu bug

DETROIT PODIUM SWEEP!!! YESSSSS!!! Break out the champagne!

Very surprised that Newark isn’t on the list. Had a cabdriver take me, I am convinced, down the worst street in Newark on purpose to scare the daylights out of me. He succeeded.

Only because, just like its school tests scores, Baltimore cheats “Norf” Avenue in Baltimore city did not make the list.

I am surprised there are no areas in New Port News or Hampton on the list.

When I worked in Tidewater, Va., there were neighborhoods you went to only in the early morning.

I lived one block from Mack and Helen and it was tough.

After I got my first degree I moved to Gratiot and Hazelwood a few blocks from Rosemary.

Then I left for Ann Arbor for degree # 2

Not ready to admit the good guys are winning. There is peace in a mass grave and an honors camp. Berlin was safer in 1936, by some accounts, that it was in the Penny Opera days a decade before.

All in all, to paraphrase Fields, I'd rather spend a week, one weekend, in Philadelphia.

Ah, modern wickedness has left old fashioned crime in the dust. Indy is just behind the times.

Pure unadulterated horse manure.

How can Washington DC not be at the top of the list?

As I understand it, citizens were robbed of over 800 billion dollars there last year. If that isn’t dangerous, I don’t know what is!

I was by the Indiana State Fair off of 38th. 38th St from I-65 reminded me a bit of Detroit.

19th - The part of Flint there is bad, but North side is worse. 10th - That's the part of Saginaw to avoid. 7th - Detroit - Pretty much anywhere on Wyoming Ave is rough.
3rd - Detroit - Gratiot and anywhere once past Eastern Market.
2nd - Detroit - Mack and anywhere that isn't part of Grosse Pointe.
1st - I'd replace this with Dexter/Davison.

Something is seriously wrong with this data. There’s not a single MLK Blvd on the list. Simply not believable.

I’m disappointed. My old stomping ground, North University Park in South-Central Los Angeles didn’t make the cut.
