The former fiancee of NBA star Jason Collins said today she had no idea that he was gay, despite dating him for eight years.
Carolyn Moos, 34, broke up with Collins - who became the first openly gay, active player when he came out yesterday - in 2009 when he cancelled their wedding, leaving her heartbroken and confused.
The 6'5" former WNBA player said she was shocked when Collins delivered the news to her last weekend and confessed that was the real reason he ended their relationship.

Being on the down low is more common than you think so it ain’t just her.
This is both a PR stunt and way to Mau Mau teams to keep them from turning him down and then having to face accusations and possible legal action from the government based on homophobic discrimination instead.
It really changes the subject away from his 1 pt per game average scoring record.
If I were in the NBA I'd rather be Queer than have a 1 point per game scoring average.
I knew a bunch at one time. It’s an “any ole port in a storm” type situation.
So proud of you, Jason Collins! This is a huge step forward for our country. Weve got your back! -mo https://twitter.com/FLOTUS/status/328978522578251776[Over 6,500 retweets so far] :(
But what about John Travolta? Tom Cruise? Michael Jackson?
Well said. Good question. From a media perspective, gays who come out are thought of as heroic.
I'll offer this:
No matter how many gay-friendly books and articles you read, no matter how many gay-friendly television shows you watch, no matter how many counselors and psychiatrists and pastors and friends and colleagues and activist groups you have surrounding you, repeating the mantra that homosexuality is healthy, wholesome, normal, and natural, you will ALWAYS and FOREVER know in some kernal of your consciousness that homosexuality is a perversion of human sexuality. It will ALWAYS bother you. And so it will take some nerve to come out publicly. Even if the entire world was free of so-called right-wing, hate-filled, homophobic, religious bigots.
My nomination for quote of the month here. LOL.
She had to find one her height or taller. Say what you want most guys a lot shorter than her would hit it but not want to marry her and appear to be the “woman” of the relationship.
What a shock to her.
The poor dear probably needs some consoling.
I’m selfless enough to be willing to do so.
Billy Jean King. That’s probably why they deliberately omitted tennis.
OK...better looking than I expected, given her description.
But Laz would most definitely hit it!!
Look at this scenario:
His performance was abysmal last season, we was about to be cut from the team and drift quietly into obscurity. So he thinks, "What could I do OFF the court that would insure they can't get rid of me for my performance ON the court?" So he gets the idea (or more likely a media savy rep does) "Play the Gay Card!!" the liberal media is praying for a pro athlete to come out and this will give your flagging career a huge boost, better yet, your team can't fire you for fear of being labeled homophobic.
Maybe now she will stop being a white trash groupie hanging around locker rooms hoping to pick up some B-ball player.
Now, that is the real shock!
That’s one way a poor put upon White Man can fight the system. I bet there are more than a few folks of both sexes making that claim in pusuit of economic security.
He was double-dipping, so to speak.
Her first priority should be to get an AIDS test - not tomorrow but right now.
As the lowest paid player on the Wizards roster, how else was this guy going to get noticed? With the lowest playing time for the team and the worst statistics even though he never plays long enough to get tired, what Wizards fan even knew who he was except as a team joke?

This guy would get flattened even if he played WNBA. I guess emasculating himself was the only cry for attention he could think of. Field goal percentage 17% on one shot per game? One rebound per game? That’s pathetic (but so is going public with his sex life).
Any team that doesn’t fall all over itself trying to sign him will immediately be branded “homophobic.” Brilliant!
