Thanks to the Boston Herald, Americans are learning about the cornucopia of benefits enjoyed by the Tsarnaev family as "asylum" seekers in the United States, and the information is enough to make many taxpayers' blood boil. Chris Cassidy writes:
The Tsarnaev family, including the suspected terrorists and their parents, benefited from more than $100,000 in taxpayer-funded assistance - a bonanza ranging from cash and food stamps to Section 8 housing from 2002 to 2012, the Herald has learned.
"The breadth of the benefits the family was receiving was stunning," said a person with knowledge of documents handed over to a legislative committee today.
The state has handed over more than 500 documents to the 11-member House Post Audit and Oversight Committee, which today met for the first time and plans to call in officials from the Department of Transitional Assistance to testify.
Close Obama ally Governor Deval Patrick's attempts to clamp down on release of information about the public assistance received by the Tsarnaev family are not working, apparently. Members of the state legislature of his own party want to know. This bombing has angered Bostonians and all Bay Staters, and the governor's assertions of a right to privacy for the late Tamerlan are not persuasive.
Progressives face Tsarnaev case nightmare, for it sheds negative light on several pet initiatives of the left:
1. Welfare. Many taxpaying Americans think it is far too easy to get free phones, food stamps, rent subsidies (Section 8), and other forms of cash provided by people who work for a living. The fact that able-bodied non-Americans were able to help themselves to a six figure extent - and then use these funds to plot murder against us adds to political pressure to tighten eligibility.

over ten years, less than a grand a month for how many people? sorry, but i wouldn’t call the ‘generous’, nor would i rise to the liberal bait.
How nice that dirtbags can find “refuge” here and collect more dollar value than many americans make in a year.
All of this is also now or soon to be available to every illegal who breaks the immigration laws, regardless of dropping an anchor or not.
Well, there you have it. And the taxpayer continues to foot the bill for the attorneys and court trial expenses. Further, since the defense attorneys’ goal is to get life rather than the death penalty - we taxpayers will have to support this evil doer for the rest of his life in prison where he will be free to practice his “religion of peace”.
Wake up, America!!!
Lenin: “The capitalists will sell us the rope with which
we will hang them”.
We’ve “evolved” to the point that our enemies are GIVEN
the rope with which we will be hung, or in this case,
the wherewithal and economic stability, with which we will
be BLOWN UP.
Jihad: “America, we get what we pay for.”
Boston voters don’t care.
Multiple this by millions of other foreigners...
The U.S. is the flophouse doormat for the world.
Just ask millions of Mexican who disrespect our rules and laws as millions of them just defecate on our country.
Few Americans make less than $100,000 in ten years. Of those who work at all, anyway.

that’s nothing compared to what we’re paying the obamas to vacation around the world.
$100,000?
Three dead.
170 wounded.
Entire city shut down for days.
Precedent set for suspending Constitutional rights to warrants, due process and civil treatment.
Sounds like a bargain to me... </progressive>
I take it the only tax they paid is sales tax on purchases. No school, property, income, no futa, no fica taxes...
Doesn’t compare to $100,000 of job earnings.
Still, $10k/year for a family of three or four isn’t much.
What about the luxury cars, designer clothes? I bet this is just the tip of the iceburg. All while I am driving a 1999 truck with 150,000 miles on it, never taking a penny from the government. Paying my way, and the ways of a boatload of other freeloaders when the government confiscates half of what I make just like many other fed up citizens who love this country. Multiply that less than $1000 a month by 20 million.
I wonder if they or members of the Tsarnaev family got on the disability gravy train ...
Yes-and while it may not seem like a lot- as someone mentioned it is only less then a grand a month- these were ABLE BODIED capable people who could work.
Welfare is supposed to be a safety net, not a way of life.
And for many that is what it is; it replaces employment and becomes their occupation.
There are also other programs that they could have used which are probably not included in the 100K total, such as heating assistance, rent reimbursement, food banks, free school breakfast and lunches, vouchers for school clothing and supplies, vouchers for winter clothing, free public bus/subway passes, summer camp, and who knows how much we paid for any Medicaid/health services (surgeries, hospitalizations etc)-I know first hand as I have an inlaw who is a welfare queen- all of the above named “programs” have been and are being used by her...and she has a boarder living with her to boot AND her husband works. But with 3 kids and one has irritable bowel-well-it’s just too hard for her to work.
It is stunning the “benefits” these people get...
I wonder if they were still mailing payments to Mother Terroresa in Russia?
“over ten years, less than a grand a month for how many people? sorry, but i wouldnt call the generous, nor would i rise to the liberal bait.”
Notice it says “at least”. I suspect that the $100,000 number will rise substantially.
If it is mostly disposable income it is.
