In a special one-hour episode covering the immediate effects of Washington Wizards center Jason Collins' coming out as a gay man on the cover of Sports Illustrated, Broussard briefly started discussing his personal beliefs about homosexuality.
"If you're openly living that type of lifestyle, the bible says you know them by their fruits, it says that that's a sin," said Broussard, comparing homosexuality to any other sex outside of marriage. "If you're openly living in unrepentant sin, whatever it may be, I believe that's walking in open rebellion to God and Jesus Christ."
Broussard was on Outside the Lines to discuss the potential ramifications of an openly gay player in the NBA, and he noted that there were others who felt the way he did who might have reservations about discussing them openly.
"As a Christian, I don't agree with homosexuality. I think it's a sin," said Broussard. "There are a lot of Christians in the NBA, and just because they don't agree with that lifestyle, they don't want to be called bigoted and intolerant."
The 44-year-old ESPN Magazine columnist, who previously wrote that the NBA was "ready" for an openly gay player, has appeared on the network since 2004. When the interview veered towards the more incendiary comments, he notably started falling over some of his words and attempted to pad his religious references with some more diplomatic statements.
"A lot of people understand that it's a politically correct climate," said Broussard. "I've had some players say that they would be uncomfortable with a gay player in the locker room.... but no one is going to necessarily come out and say anything... If he doesn't get signed next year, it probably won't be because he came out as gay. He's towards the end of his career and not that good anymore." ESPN did not immediately respond to The Hollywood Reporter's request for comment, and Broussard is already drawing a considerable amount of fire online.
The Center for American Progress has already drawn attention to the fact that Broussard's 2009 article on the NBA being ready to welcome openly gay players also noted him being personally uncomfortable with the idea of sharing a locker room with a gay man.
Collins will give his first on-air interview since coming out to George Stephanopoulos, with the ABC News segment set to premiere during Tuesday's Good Morning America.
My question is how/why did this guy attend Oberlin?
Refreshingly honest, but likely a very bad career move for Chris Broussard. To prove their worth, leftist outlets like ESPN won’t hesitate “making an example” of him.
Now THATS courage.
The gay guy is a hero.
Broussard is toast.
Sometimes, I'm glad my Dad is long gone.
Even though I am not a Chris Broussard fan(Since he has trashed my Lakers in the past) I applaud him for saying the TRUTH about homosexuality..of course the “tolerant” left is already after him saying he should be fired..America better wake up..because the left wants to silence us and make us all agree with them..if you speak out against the gay agenda, you get mocked and your job is at risk..apparently the 1st Amendment means NOTHING to the left, but if you agree with them then its fine
I thought some MLB players had come out.
Yeah I heard that jackass Shepard Smith trash Tebow too with “What has he accomplished?” I have a question for Shepard Smith, what the hell have YOU accomplished? Because other than him being the queer anchor on Fox News, what else has he ever done with his life..NOTHING..yet he has the gall to trash Tebow who is a damn good quarterback, but hey, if your a Christian who praises God, your mocked..but if your like to have a pecker in your ass your praised
Over the Winter Tori Hunter said he wouldn’t feel comfortable with gays in the lockerroom.
I won’t watch anymore if they start discriminating against those normal people who know what parts fit where.
So when people are fired because of their moral opinion and religious beliefs, when do we decide the country is broken?
We all need to be asking, “why not polygamy?”. Other cultures allow it, while not allowing “gay marriage”, so why not here? If you want to take away the Judeo-Christian standard for what marriage is, then by what standard or ethics basis do you derive a definition of marriage?
Glenn Hubbard came out after he retired.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but if you believe Tebow is a good QB, you don’t watch much football.
An ESPN broadcast was not an appropriate forum for his personal beliefs. He can say what he chooses on Twitter, or in a blog. But employers generally don’t want their employees discussing personal religious beliefs in the workplace, and I would imagine that includes ESPN as well.
Tebow has won the Heisman along with a NCAA National Championship, inspired children with terminal illnesses with personal visits, donated his time to disabled veterans, and taken a losing, stumbling NFL team and turned their season around with wild win after wild win... all while spreading the Word.
And what have you done, Shep?
Amen, Chris Broussard. Amen!
I recommend to one and all Dr. Steven Lawson’s sermon “A Famine in the Land”. It is most appropriate for such a time as this. You can listen for free here...

I did not see the show myself but I heard he was asked specifically what his opinion on this was. Considering he has written about this issue in the past, they had to know what he would say on the matter.
To the left, homosexuality is a religion.
In journalistic jargon, his *ss is grass.
