An explosion in central Prague on Monday, probably caused by gas, injured as many as 40 people, officials said, and neighboring buildings - including the National Theatre - had to be evacuated.
The explosion, in a building facing the Vltava river just a few dozen meters (yards) from the 19th-century theatre, was heard as far away as Prague Castle about a mile away.
A police spokesman said the blast was probably caused by gas and that there had been about 15 people in the building, which included an office of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and an art gallery.

Yes. The offices seemed to be belong to something called the Czech Aviation Services.
I know the area - it’s quite lovely, with lots of 19th century buildings. I see the explosion blew out the big plate glass windows of the Cafe Slavia across the street (one of my favorite places). I can’t believe only 4 people were seriously injured, since it’s a heavily traveled central area.
Apparently it occurred in or around the National Theater. I’ve been in that building... it’s absolutely beautiful.
Hopefully no deaths from this.... prayers for the injured.
Prague’s beautiful, isn’t it...
Ever walk the Charles Bridge at night during the warm months? Some fine musical talent out there!
Unlike us, the Czech’s aren’t going to cover up for Muslim terrorists. If they say its gas, i believe them.
We don’t want to jump to any conclusions!
so what have the Czechs done to p*ss off the Mooooslims?
Maybe somebody over there posted an offensive You Tube video.
We will know better by tomorrow. I hope.
It’s a great city! Very beautiful indeed. I certainly hope this is just a gas explosion and not the opening of another front, so to speak.
Too many *gas* explosions for my taste.
They're not muslim.
And once the infidels are all gone, they'll turn on each other and consume each other.
The only reason they don't go after each other more is that we're here to distract them.
There are Amish in Prague? Who knew?/s
CNN will no doubt immediately pin this on Sarah Palin and the Tea Party.
