Yet another study, by the same US research team, links raised risk of heart attack and stroke to the action of gut bacteria on certain compounds contained in digested food. This time the link is to a compound found in eggs: lecithin.
Earlier this month, researchers reported in Nature Medicine how they found L-carnitine, a compound found in red meat and added to energy drinks, can increase heart risk because gut bacteria digest it to produce trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO), a metabolite already suspected of helping to clog up arteries.

But when combining bacon with the eggs, it will extend your life 30 years.
Mmmm, BACON!
The study is a flawed. The underlying pathology is all about iron accumulation in the endothelial tissues that generates all of the damaging reactive oxygen species. Zoo animals like myna birds, and lemurs get the same iron loading pathologies just like humans without eating any meat. The fructose (from excessive fruit consumption) causes excessive iron retention. The wrong bacteria colonize the human gut when humans become hypochlohydric (almost no stomach acid) after they accumulate too much iron in the liver.
I forgot, is milk good or bad now?
As granpap sez, alcohol is a solvent and he intends to keep his arteries clean. But then I adhere to the motto of “eight hours from bottle to throttle” ... and I only do the pub thing on Saturday nights, and in moderation. Two’s my limit.
Yes, the study about carnitine being bad for you has already been debunked. Many of these “studies” come from front groups for animal rights whackos. These come to mind - Union of Concerned Scientists (they may be concerned, but they aren’t scientists), Center for Science in the Public Interest, and Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine (front group for PETA).
Here is a link to a conservative site that gives good info on food and science issues (lefties say they are backed by “big food”) www.consumerfreedom.com And here is the link to the story about the flawed study on carnitine and meat.

Good deal... you sure wouldn’t want that bacteria getting into some small molecular vehicle and trying to figure out where they live, and how to get home.... who knows where it might end up. ;)
Hey, PETA, if meat is murder, are eggs abortion?
Now that the dietary cholesterol scam has been pretty much exploded, new ways must be found to vilify meat and eggs.
My Saturday and Sunday morning ritual: Egg Scramble made with 4 large eggs, sauteed onion, spinach, mushroom, red pepper mixed with cream cheese and maple sausage. The hell with these findings, if they are true. I gots to have my eggs!
I eat a lot of egg whites without the yolk, if this is bad, then I’m a dead man for sure.
Buy lemons and freeze them. Grate some while frozen, into your gimlet, even the interior and seeds. Enjoy ... I like that little treat in Bombay Sapphire, chilled extra cold (Gin from the freezer).
Now that is new I can use!
Dang it- I meant News- perhaps I’ve had a little too much of the magic water.
