McCain's Straight Lies (or Modern Benidict Arnold)
townhall.com ^ | Feb 01, 2008 | Thomas Sowell

"...Confronted with his lie on Wednesday night's debate, McCain blustered and filibustered in a manner reminiscent of Captain Queeg in "The Caine Mutiny," when he was caught in a lie during a navy inquiry.

When confronted with any of his misdeeds, Senator McCain tends to fall back on his record as a war hero in Vietnam.

Let's talk sense. Benedict Arnold was a war hero but that did not exempt him from condemnation for his later betrayal.

Being a war hero is not a lifetime get-out-of-jail-free card. And becoming President of the United States is not a matter of rewarding an individual for past services.

The Presidency is a heavy responsibility for the future of the nation, including generations yet unborn. Character and integrity are major qualifications.

The passing years and a friendly media have allowed Senator McCain's shortcomings in the character and integrity department to fade into the background.

McCain was one of "the Keating five" -- Senators who used their influence to try to protect a failing savings & loan company, which also became the subject ..."

I just listen to McCain rant on Syria. Despite his war record, I do not believe he no longer (if ever) supports the country I grew up in. [personal opinion]

I believe he loves his country but he hates Conservatism more than that love he has for the USA.

I believe he loves his country

Only what it can do for him as he doesn't do anything FOR it.

I believe he is a total frickin idiot who was turned while captured by the Viet Cong.
I believe his support for John Kerry made that perfectly clear. When someone supports a traitor, that person is also a traitor. That’s what I believe.

I used to support him (past) but since I have been awakened to the infiltration of GOP (RINO) by socialist.....

I don’t know.....maybe he felt betrayed.....while sitting in that POW cage.

But he is taking the WRONG side now. (my opinion)

Thanks

And in years past, some threw some of the most vile insults at me for making the comparison when all I said was Benedict Arnold was once a war hero as well. A little vindication seeing that I am on the same page with a great thinker and wise man.

My point was the same, just because one was once a war hero, does not absolve him for later deeds. Benedict Arnold died a war hero, but he also died as traitor.

Goes to the old saying that it only takes one “Oh Shiite” to erase a mountain of “atta-boys”.

“Be mindful of how you live your life, for you may be the only Bible many will ever read.” From a past pastor of mine.

Don't you dare compare John McCain to Benedict Arnold. Arnold served with distinction and had a long record of record of bravery and accomplishment before he switched sides.

McCain had a long record of crashing aircraft and being an insufferable jackass that killed a bunch of sailors with his jackassery. And McCain never switched sides because he always served the otherside. The otherside being the Globalist Ruling Elites.

Lets not forget McCain is product of the AZ electorate. He didnt just happen in a vacuum. While he does have significant problems the REAL culprit here is the AZ electorate...lets attribute blame correctly.

McCain is a coward descended from a line of cowards. His only asset in life was his being the son of an admiral.

His grandfather was responsible for the worst U.S. naval defeat of WWII and could have cost the entire Guadalcanal invasion force their lives. Savo Island...

"If ever" seems the most accurate. If he represents America or Arizona, I'm not seeing it.

All I see is a badly damaged, corrupt old bastard long past his expiration date sticking it to the people who sent him to Vietnam.

Ol' Ben Arnold was a war hero, too.
