SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- The California Assembly passed a bill on Thursday that would make the state the first in the nation to allow non-citizens who are in the country legally to serve on jury duty.
Assemblyman Bob Wieckowski, D-Fremont, said his bill, AB1401, would help California widen the pool of prospective jurors and help integrate immigrants into the community.

Why not have a non-citizen judge preside?

I thought that the jury pool was the pool of registered voters. Is that not the case? How would you select these non-citizen, non-registered voters?

Sorry, CA conservatives. Leave while you can. I was kicked off jury duty two weeks ago. I hope to be out of here in a matter of months. Check out my tag line, as to where I am going.

Having gone through several jury selection cycles I can only imagine how this would turn out.
The judges are almost always predisposed to the left, might as well have a fake jury to go along with the charade.

In California superior court jurors are selected from the Department of Motor Vehicle records. A juror must be a U.S. citizen, be at least 18 years old, must speak and understand English, and cannot be a felon. In other words, only a tiny percentage of Californians are presently qualified for jury duty. That is why I get a jury summons almost every year.

Non-citizens may be wonderful folks but they’re not our “Peers”. This proposal won’t fly long.
