'GOP' Pollster Frank Luntz Denounced Limbaugh, Levin as 'Problematic' for GOP Future By Tim Graham Created 04/25/2013 - 7:11am

The leftists at Mother Jones are brandishing another secret tape. Pollster Frank Luntz, denounced as too conservative by liberals when he turns up on liberal networks, told a group of college students at the University of Pennsylvania this week that Rush Limbaugh and right-wing talk radio are "problematic" for the GOP and that he and Mark Levin were “killing” Marco Rubio for his immigration proposals.

Democrats have “got every other source of news on their side. And so that is a lot of what's driving it. If you take—Marco Rubio's getting his ass kicked. Who's my Rubio fan here? We talked about it. He's getting destroyed! By Mark Levin, by Rush Limbaugh, and a few others.” This might be a surprise to anyone who's listened to Rubio's actual interviews on conservative talk radio.

Luntz added, “He's trying to find a legitimate, long-term effective solution to immigration that isn't the traditional Republican approach, and talk radio is killing him. That's what's causing this thing underneath. And too many politicians in Washington are playing coy.” He also warned that if the GOP did not resolve its internal divides, it could lose the House of Representatives next year.

So much for trying to go "off the record" with a group of college kids, some of whom love Mother Jones:

Luntz asked if anyone was recording the event, and Eric Kaplan, a reporter from the college paper, the Daily Pennsylvanian, indicated that he was. Luntz requested that he turn off his recording device. Kaplan did so and agreed that this part of Luntz's talk would remain off the record. But one of the students present, Aakash Abbi, a junior majoring in philosophy, politics, and economics, started to record Luntz on his iPhone (without letting Luntz know), and Abbi has provided that recording to Mother Jones.

David Corn of Mother Jones added that this activist didn't tape everything he wanted people to know. "Abbi and two other attendees (who wish to remain anonymous), asserted that it had been irresponsible (and bad for the GOP) for right-wing talkers to pontificate about women's bodies and birth control—an obvious reference to Limbaugh's attacks last year on Sandra Fluke, a law student invited to testify before Congress on health insurance coverage of contraception. (Abbi didn't catch this part of Luntz's reply on his recording.)"

He said Luntz was blaming polarization and the GOP's problems partly on conservative media, but he didn't want his criticism of Limbaugh, Levin, and the others to reach beyond this classroom. "He was clear on this basic point: Right-wing media is not serving the national debate and not helping the GOP widen the party's appeal beyond its declining base."

Luntz didn’t bash Hannity, did he? I wonder why....

Hannity has “evolved.”

Funny how Luntz just happened to leave Hannity out of the bash fest...he knows where his bread gets buttered.

That's right...Hannity's "evoved" on amnesty...just like MarcoPhone Rubio and Rand Paul.

Yes, and given enough time, I suspect he’ll evolve on sodomite marriage, right in step with the GOP.

Frank is a Luntz Pollster, he will sell his soul to the higher bidder, tilting his dog and pony fakery whichever way the employer wants it tilted. He can accomplish this by merely keeping detailed records on persons he will ‘select’ for his polling scams and having excellent profiling skills.

The GOP is problematic for my future.

Especially when they come out in support of amnesty, gay marriage, no 0bamaCare for Congress/Congress aides, internet tax, etc., etc.

The Progressives have successfully infiltrated - and own - both parties.

Precisely. They can’t use the “if you don’t vote for the gop, you’ll get worse”. We already have worse now all the time while they were telling us “if you don’t vote gop” and it’s about as bad as it gets already.

A liberal-leaning GOP office-holder today is worse than the most hardened Leftist Democrat - because merely by existing, the Republican gives an artificial "conservative sanction" to whatever the Leftists are doing. The GOP constantly neuters genuine conservative opposition when it reaches compromise agreements on bad bills to "head off worse ones." The baseline always moves Left.

Ultimately, it's better to have a Democrat in office than a fake Republican, because - as they are starting to learn in California - when things go bad there is no one else left to take the blame. They seem to be trying to pin their misfortunes on Rick Perry now - which even the inattentive consider laughable.

Slow it down Rubio....

Talking that fast and being way too wordy is usually a sign of insecurity...like a little kid trying to lie his way out of something.
Less is more, Marco, but right now, silence from you would be best.
Soon as he starts talking, I zone out...can’t listen to him.

I notice Luntz exempted Hannity from his tirade. That’s because Hannity will give the fat little troll face time and promote his focus groups filled with politically retarded imbeciles.

Hannity’s repetition is becoming comical. If I hear him say ONE MORE TIME,,,”dirty air and dirty water, throw Granny off a cliff”.
I don’t listen to his radio show but heard this quoted by another talk show host the other day. scream!

You mean mugwump, fence sitting, copyist, lightweight Hannity? Who never had an original thought?

Hannity once had an original though, but it died of loneliness.

The jerk could barely hold his own against Alan Colmes, for s___'s sake.

You are so right. Just tuning in to Rush right now. Interested to hear what he has to say about this.

Ditto Reddon.

“am no longer a Republican, and I refuse to vote for any incumbent Republican except for Ted Cruz.”

The vitriol from Freepers who wrongly assumed that those of us who refused to vote for Mittens on principle would be responsible for reelecting Obama...

Then finally caving and voting for the Mass. liberal(not because of anything Freepers said) partly on advice from both Levin and Rush...cavers all. “I’ll work hard for Romney” Levin and “Obama is going to lose in a landslide” Rush. Good ones you two!

I felt dirty coming out of the voting booth and won’t forgive myself for not listening to my inner conservative voice..and standing up for my Reagan values...on his, Breitbart’s and my fathers shoulders.
It won’t happen again. Jim Rob: you were right. ..as usual.

Any pollster who wades into political commentary should never be hired as a pollster again. By/from either side.
