'GOP' Pollster Frank Luntz Denounced Limbaugh, Levin as 'Problematic' for GOP Future By Tim Graham Created 04/25/2013 - 7:11am

The leftists at Mother Jones are brandishing another secret tape. Pollster Frank Luntz, denounced as too conservative by liberals when he turns up on liberal networks, told a group of college students at the University of Pennsylvania this week that Rush Limbaugh and right-wing talk radio are "problematic" for the GOP and that he and Mark Levin were “killing” Marco Rubio for his immigration proposals.

Democrats have “got every other source of news on their side. And so that is a lot of what's driving it. If you take—Marco Rubio's getting his ass kicked. Who's my Rubio fan here? We talked about it. He's getting destroyed! By Mark Levin, by Rush Limbaugh, and a few others.” This might be a surprise to anyone who's listened to Rubio's actual interviews on conservative talk radio.

Luntz added, “He's trying to find a legitimate, long-term effective solution to immigration that isn't the traditional Republican approach, and talk radio is killing him. That's what's causing this thing underneath. And too many politicians in Washington are playing coy.” He also warned that if the GOP did not resolve its internal divides, it could lose the House of Representatives next year.

So much for trying to go "off the record" with a group of college kids, some of whom love Mother Jones:

Luntz asked if anyone was recording the event, and Eric Kaplan, a reporter from the college paper, the Daily Pennsylvanian, indicated that he was. Luntz requested that he turn off his recording device. Kaplan did so and agreed that this part of Luntz's talk would remain off the record. But one of the students present, Aakash Abbi, a junior majoring in philosophy, politics, and economics, started to record Luntz on his iPhone (without letting Luntz know), and Abbi has provided that recording to Mother Jones.

David Corn of Mother Jones added that this activist didn't tape everything he wanted people to know. "Abbi and two other attendees (who wish to remain anonymous), asserted that it had been irresponsible (and bad for the GOP) for right-wing talkers to pontificate about women's bodies and birth control—an obvious reference to Limbaugh's attacks last year on Sandra Fluke, a law student invited to testify before Congress on health insurance coverage of contraception. (Abbi didn't catch this part of Luntz's reply on his recording.)"

He said Luntz was blaming polarization and the GOP's problems partly on conservative media, but he didn't want his criticism of Limbaugh, Levin, and the others to reach beyond this classroom. "He was clear on this basic point: Right-wing media is not serving the national debate and not helping the GOP widen the party's appeal beyond its declining base."

I listen to Levin every day and he has been very cordial and fair to Marco Rubio.

Me too. I thought it was crazy when people here on FR started the criticism of Mark just because he gave Rubio a chance to explain such a crazy idea. IMHO Rubio talks way too much. Slow it down Rubio....

These guys, Luntz, dick morris, et al, are just self promoters. If Hannity did not renew his contract, he would be over on some other cable station pushing their idio line.

Conservatives take note:

The amnesty bill was written by Communist Schumer, and is now being sold by Judas Rubio.

We must never let Rubio get elected in the future to any political office.

Luntz is right. They are a problem for Republicans.

The thing is, I don't give a damn. Actually, I do give a damn. I'm glad they're a problem.

Keep up the good work, guys.

I used to think Luntz was a neutral sort of pollster perhaps a bit toward the Fox viewers. However, lately it seems to me he has turned towards actually trying to influence opinions. Maybe not so good and even foolish for Luntz. As Lincoln said ‘You can fool all the people some of the time’.

You are right. The GOP is indeed dead. My view is there is one, and only one, thing that can save our nation and that’s a spiritual revival. Christ is the only answer. What we see in both parties is what happens when mostly godless people with no moral absolutes control a system designed for Believers.

And many low info Liberal PhonyCons still insist Fox News is “conservative”

Rush and Levin reflect not only the majority conservatives on Rubio-Obama Illegal Alien Amnesty....they reflect how most Americans truly feel regarding Illegal Alien Amnesty

I refuse to vote for ‘Jeb” - no fng way.

I said the same thing about Romney, but then I did. But never again. Now I am no longer a Republican, and I refuse to vote for any incumbent Republican except for Ted Cruz. I hope all incumbent Republicans get primary challenged. The whole party needs to be replaced or be gone.

There is a decent point buried in his argument.

If the MSM destroys the national political chances of most conservative leaders for being insufficiently liberal, and conservative talk radio destroys the few left standing for being insufficiently conservative, there won’t be any left to challenge the Left.

LUNTZ: "He's trying to find a legitimate, long-term effective solution to immigration.."

Yeah, but he signs up with a 'Gang of Conspirators' who's only purpose is to RAM THRU this legislation with a 1 DAY HEARING! How's that for "legitimate", eh?

First, two words: "Mother Jones." This is David Corn, latest steward of that old, traditionally provocative and violent socialist rag.

(Which does not make the alleged remarks by Frank Luntz erroneous or irrelevant. Frank tends, nearly always, toward the "resonance" school of political thought, e.g. politicians should seek to "resonate" with nested attitudes among Low-Slow-No-Information voters rather than to persuade or change the thinking of such people - and from whom he picks his startlingly mal-informed focus groups.)

Second, his choice of Mark Levin and Rush Limbaugh in his remarks (usually off-the-cuff) is highly indicative that these two nobles are having a larger (and inevitably positive) effect on salient debates regarding the very important issues of our time.

Third... It is likely Luntz was trying to endear himself with his hipster, youthful audience (most of whom are very likely to have the hipster's poor opinion of Rush, and unlikely to have ever actually listened to either.

Finally... that Rush and Mark might actually be having any therapeutic effect on the present political madness is only positive, among the people I need to persuade.

It means, in short, they must be doing something "Right."

'GOP' Pollster Frank Luntz; he "misinforms/agitates" the GOP to give-up
their core principles to "influence" the "undecideds" and when it fails, he
blames Conservatives for the loss of the HoR...while this clown run-off scot-free

American production is dead unless you intend to bring back tariffs and other forms of protectionism. Also the cost of the goods produced would be so high as to be non-competitive on the global market. IMO.
