IRS issued billions in improper refunds, report says

The Internal Revenue Service issued more than $11 billion in improper payments through its Earned Income Tax Credit program last year, according to an inspector general’s report released this week.

Treasury Department deputy inspector general Michael McKenney found that the IRS has failed to comply for two consecutive years with the Improper Payments Elimination Act, which President Obama signed in 2010. The law requires federal agencies to reduce erroneous payments to a rate of less than 10 percent.

The IRS estimates that at least 21 percent of its EITC payments in 2012 were faulty. That rate showed a decline compared to the previous nine years, but improper payments over the same period increased about 22 percent, rising to at least $11.6 billion, according to the inspector general’s report.

It appears there is no penalty assessed against the IRS when they screw up. Wish I could live like that.

Redistribution of wealth. It’s only a “screw-up” when they get caught.

That’s the way Congress thinks - we can pass a law prohibiting people from making mistakes.

But what if they make mistakes anyway?

Put the leadership in jail and give them a telephone. You’d be amazed how fast things get fixed.

Redistribution of wealth.

What makes it worse is the E.I.T.C. is a republican started program.

First proposed by Nixon, signed into law by Ford and increased under every administration since, without exception.

Eliminate the EITC. Eliminate all tax credits.

There was post some time ago zeroing in on this subject in relation to the Illegal Immigrants and the EITC fraud.

This is not the article posted, but this describes how big the issue is:

http://www.minutemanhq.com/hq/article.php?sid=947

“Bottom line: Immigrants accounted for about 13 percent of the U.S. population in 2008 but receive an estimated 26 percent of EITC benefits—about $12 billion.”

The most distressing aspect of EITC stems from unlawful immigrants tapping into the program on a massive scale. For example, in Greeley, Colorado this year, district attorney Buck Young raided a tax filing agency to find over 1,000 fraudulent returns by unlawful workers. While they paid little or nothing in taxes, they received hundreds of thousands in bogus returns. That same scam multiplies all over the country.

It is so bad that many illegals claim their nephews, nieces and none related as family members and receive refunds showing No Income.

Now you put the discussion of the Amnesty bill into the picture and you see the fire we are playing with.

Yep, sad but true. Nixon was certainly no conservative.

Yep, I’m betting that the “mistakes” were all in favor of people supportive of this regime.

Here is another article from the Heritage Foundation that illustrates in great detail the abuse of EITC transfer payments by illegal aliens.

The Earned Income Tax Credit; Redistribution of wealth in its simplest form. Unfortunately there’s not a damned thing we can do about it and I’m sure Holder will get right on this.

I’m 100% confidant when I say I’ve never received an “improper refund”.

Eliminate the INCOME TAX, period.

What a horribly inefficient way to fund the gov’t. Plethora of underground/under-reported/non-reported/etc. Let alone goes against the 13th A. (involuntary slavery).

Bring back the tariffs (seemed to work all the way up to the early 20th century) or flat sales tax; both with the line-item on every purchase.

This has always been a concealed federal welfare program that is rife with corruption and abuse
