Y’know, back before education became a jobs program for liberals, you didn’t hear about all these problems with “teachers”.
Funny how everything liberals touch turns to trash, isn’t it?
You know, it’s a shame that the work “partner” has now been turned into dirt meaning a sodomite’s partner. Disgusting. It used to mean a close friend . . . but now it’s a filthy term . . . thank you sodomites!
I think the school should kick-out of the school any family that signed the petition to keep this teacher. Why attend a Catholic School when you do not support the teachings of the Catholic Church.
Wait a minute!
Hang on!
Could we really be living is a world where we have lesbian PE teachers?
I’m Stunned!
My (straight) son attended Bishop Watterson High School and remembers her fondly.
He said there were no “gay vibes” towards anyone and was a kind, respectful gym teacher.
And why is some a-hole reading an obit and filing a complaint?
While most Freepers would disagree, this is a bad story for the Catholic school. Particularly since I remember some of the nasty teachers at Watterson. Hale was one of the nice ones.
The fact that she was so discreet the only way she was outed was by an obscure reference in obituary. Then fired?. I’m not comfortable with churches, employers or government peeping into people’s private life. Once they start you could be next.
The Catholic Church also teaches that sex outside of marriage is wrong and that remarriage after divorce is wrong.
Will they fire anyone who doesn’t restrict their sex life to their live long spouse?
I think the church is trying to walk a rather silly tightrope.
Either allow gays or don’t. In this case, since it’s a church, it would be don’t.
Don’t have a policy that pretends.
Don’t have a policy that looks the other way as long as there isn’t any mention of the person being gay.
Don’t say “You can work here, as long as we don’t know you’re gay.” Etc.
Those policies just create these situations where eventually you have to deal with something that you should have dealt with long ago.
We have a lot more pressing issues at the moment than to concern ourselves with issues such as this. Let us stay focused on the criminals who currently control our government and their allies who seek to destroy us and let us not become distracted with these side issues.
Make sense?
Their private school, their rules.
This tells me that Watterson did the right thing. Parents pay good money to send their kids to Catholic schools with the very reasonable expectation that their kids will receive an authentically Catholic education. Teachers whose goal is to change Church teaching have no business teaching in Catholic schools.
If this woman were living a chaste lifestyle I would object to her termination because she'd be modeling the Catholic position to her students. But public promotion of immorality or teachings contrary to the church isn't something the school should tolerate from those who are supposed to be role models for students and who are entrusted with shaping them into good Catholics for the future. And that's not a homosexual thing. If she were living outside of marriage with a straight partner the school would also be right to fire her.
This teacher has my sympathy for the loss of her mother and my prayers for her future.
Thank God for people that scan the obituaries for stuff like this
