After dropping the format for Spanish Sports ESPN Deportes in late September, Clear Channel will return 640 WGST Atlanta to Talk on Monday, June 3.
The new WGST lineup will exclusively feature syndicated programming including Wall Street Journal This Morning, Glenn Beck, Andrea Tantaros, and Dave Ramsey. Beck and Ramsey currently air in the market on News Talk 1160 WCFO.
Prior to its flip to Sports, WGST was also heard on 92.3 W222AF. The translator is now Comedy 92.3 rebroadcasting 94.9 WUBL-HD3
People are still trying to do that all-comedy format?
How many times does it have to bomb?
WGST once had a great lineup, including Rush, Hannity, and Kim Peterson in afternoon drive. When it went Spanish I dropped it from my list. They will have a tough time recipe ring their former glory now that Rush is gone to WSB, Hannity to FOX news, and Peterson (the Kimmer) to who knows where.
Bring back Kim Peterson in the afternoon drive time. He always insinuated the suits at Clear Channel were morons and was clearly on to something. While I mostly agree with Hannity I just can’t stand his whiny repetition and contentious guests. Peterson was funny.
I know, it’s something to put on temporarily to keep a station going maybe. In Boston Clr Chnl got rid of conservative Talk 1200 (nee Rush Radio) and did a stunt called “gaffe 1200” with political mis-statements, then went to comedy. At least till a month ago when they changed to Bloomberg Business news. (It doesn’t get ratings but advertisers love it). The comedy is
on an HD-2 radio signal now.
The switch to ESPN Deportes format decision was made suddenly and without any announcement ahead of time.
Contracts were terminated with a sharp axe; staff & techs were let go & jobs were lost in a matter of hours.
I drove 20 miles on the freeway before I realized my radio tuner wasn't maladjusted.
640... 640.... 640.... say what???
NOPE... not here.
Scroooom....
WGST can suck it. They pulled the plug on a Friday I think after the last show of Rusty whoever and went Mexican ESPN.
Didn’t say a damned word, no explanation. Suck on it. I’ll never go back.
640 KC with 50,000 watts daytime.
They should be a big regional C & W station.
The main problem with all-comedy radio is that today George Carlin’s Seven Dirty Words would be one of the cleaner routines. They are throwing out so many bleeps the average listener thinks he’s hearing a CONELRAD alert.
I wish the GOP would drop its Spanish format after its ratings plunge.
They just wanted a reason to dump Rush Limbaugh, as per the orders from the Ministry of Truth.
In the ATL, Rush comes on WSB at 12:00 and then Hannity follows at 3:00 pm. Oh, and the Hermanator has his own show on WSB as well. Clear Channel might as well play polka music from here on it on WGST.

Update from the above link:
>>Update 4/24: Rodney Ho of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the ESPN Deportes programming will shift from 640 to 92.3 W222AF displacing Comedy 92.3 when WGST returns.
While the Talk format will return on June 3, Beck will not return to the station until July 9. Other shows included in the new WGST lineup are KTRH Houstons Michael Berry from 6-8pm, Todd Schnitt from 8-10pm, Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis from 10pm to 1am, Coast To Coast with George Noory from 1-5am, and Bloombergs First Word with Ken Prewitt from 5-7am.
Indeed...meanwhile regarding comedy stations on sat. radio, I will say on Sirius XM they do have Laugh USA which seems to be clean the times I’ve heard it, plus other channels where the routines and language are more rude (though subscribers can, like me, save a few bucks and subscribe to
the family version of XM and those channels will be absent)

They won't get Limbaugh back.
