President Obama would make a terrible stand-up comedian. He would need a teleprompter to deliver his jokes. And he would need a traveling caravan of smiling children to serve as live props.
Sen. Rand Paul was right to say that Obama effectively uses children as props to promote his anti-2nd Amendment gun control agenda.
On December 14, 2012 a mentally unstable young man named Adam Lanza took the lives of 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut.
Last Wednesday, Obama rallied several family members of the 20 children who died in the Newtown tragedy to flank him in the Rose Garden as he gave a speech pouting about the failure of the Manchin-Toomey bill to expand mandatory background checks for gun purchases, including firearms bought online or at gun shows. The bill failed by six votes in the Senate on Wednesday.
Also on Wednesday, Paul pointed out how Obama politicized the failure of the background checks bill, saying: I am a parent, I have three boys and I hate to see using people, I think, as props and politicizing peoples tragedy. ... I know they [family members] are coming voluntarily and they want to come and be part of this debate. It still saddens me just to see them, and I think that in some cases the president has used them as props. That disappoints me.
Paul further explained on the Glenn Beck Program on Thursday: I think one of the things that attracts mad men to schools is the fact that they are gun-free zones. he [Adam Lanza] didnt go to the local police station to kill people because he knew that they would shoot back.
Even beyond Pauls observations, it is important to point out that not every parent who lost a child in the Newtown, Connecticut tragedy believes that gun control is the answer. Mark Mattioli, the father of 6-year-old Sandy Hook Elementary School victim James Mattioli testified before a gun violence task force:
I think theres much more promise for a solution in identifying, researching and creating solutions along the lines of mental health issues. I believe these issues, especially gun violence are not as complex as youve been told, theres been a lot on TV, a lot of politicians telling you the way it is. Its a simple concept, what we need is civility. What we are seeing is a symptoms of a bigger problem. The problem is not gun laws. The problem is a lack of civility.
Mattioli continued: Cultivating character. We, as parents, thats our primary job. Parenting is where we need to focus our attention. We do not need complex laws. Chicago has some of the toughest gun laws in the country I dont think the gun laws are protecting the people, let alone the 500 who perished last year in that city. Criminals by definition break the law. What we experienced in Sandy Hook: Did [Adam Lanza] break the law? Of course [he] broke the law. one more law, I dont care if you named it James Law, I dont want it, I think we have more than enough on the books
Mattioli is right. The problems our society faces do not come from guns. Owning a gun, a knife or a baseball bat will not turn you into a mass murderer. But a sick conscience or a mental illness can. Every young man who committed mass murder over the last few years has been mentally ill. More gun control laws will not stop mentally ill people from acting irrationally. By definition, irrational people do not do rational things, like follow laws.
Furthermore, mentally ill people do not always use guns to commit violence. They use their own hands (think Erika Menendez who said she pushed a man in front of New York City subway train because I thought it would be cool). And they use hammers: many FBI reports show that more criminals have used hammers than rifles to commit murder. And they use knives (think the female blackjack dealers who broke into a stabbing fight at the Bellagio).
Dr. John Lott has written that: There is no real scientific evidence among criminologists and economists that background checks actually reduce crime. But better parenting and a more loving society that proactively addresses depression could potentially reduce violent crime.
There is absolutely no evidence supporting more gun control laws. So, President Obama is using children as props.
Ah, two of the left’s “substitute Jesuses”.
disgusting, cowardly, POSOTUS
Precisely!
Anti anti-2nd Amendment president,oh wait he’s a democrat it’s ok.
I hope he will surround himself with the blown apart but still living victims of Boston, and the relatives of those who died there, when he pushes for immigration reform.
The only quantum of solace is that people are starting to wake up to this traitor and his minions in the press.
Perhaps President Nobody just likes little kids.
(Uh oh)
“cultivating character...”???
Give me a break, the only thing Obama and these progressives cultivate is a bunch of dumbed down, lilly livered crybabies that are children now, yet will grow up in a social environment where every damn thing is prepared, lived, reacted to, and governed by this absolute totalitarian freakshow of elected thugs, with nothing else better to do...
And we have NO ONE (electable) that has the virtue, or intelligence to call it for what it is...
Those we do try to get elected spend their time wasting it by answering to the juvenile attack strategies by the left and its media to somehow believe that will give them some credit, while the real problems go un-resolved...
I believe we need to fire them all and start over, but the people that elect their reps, even those in our own reanks believe their guy/gal is the best thing up there...
Even if that is the case, I do not see mine as doing anything to correct these flaws in character and policies, so I can do without that feckless waste of space, but I still like the guy...So until the leadership of these political parties, or factions (as described in Federalist #10) are reigned in, replaced...I do not see any changes worth a damn coming the way of the people...
And if the people are not virtuous to demand these correections, then I say this 230+ year experiment was a good run...A nice try...
Laziness, apathy, lack of transparency and virtue-less electorate breeds the very atmosphere we live in today...
And there are not enough of folks like us to compel those to (at the very least) to be self-critical enough to realize the real problems to begin with...
Everyone thinks themselves to be so perfect, and without flaw...
I could go on and on, but I figure that most people, even here are bored with my observations anyway...
What do I know, right???
Zero’s head must be in the way of the Asian kid.
Has to be an Asian kid behind him.
Look at the “colors” of the rest of the children and determine what’s missing.
People are not waking up...They are in a political slumber that can be so difficult to arise from that it is almost a waste of time...
So the dog and pony show we see everyday from our elected officials is designed specifically to keep those people who do not want, or desire, much less expect, their reps to do their jobs within the confines of the Constitution, and do so with vortue and integrity, selflessness, not afraid of argument, but are constantly apologizing for their conservative views...I just do not see a future for this nation...
Like I said in an earlier post...
Fire them all, start over...It really isn’t that hard to do...We can start next year...Take a chance folks...Incumbancy does not mean you need to be complacent in your acceptance of our nations situation...
Roll the dice, see what happens...It cannot be any more risky than the direction we are heading in now??? Can it???
It was wonderful and I couldn't put the book down. No doubt it will stay with me for a long time.
Seeing these pictures after reading Colton's story is disconcerting and disturbing.
I think my next book to read will be Heaven is Real But So is Hell: An Eyewitness Account of What is to Come.
I've seen the preview watching obama and company in action, so now I'm ready to read about the main event. It should make it easier to live in the obamanation, knowing what they are earning with our misery.
Everyone seems to be smiling, happy, honored to be in the presence, no, in the midst of tyranny 101...And he is urging the rest of us to take those first baby steps towards the destruction of our country...
I wonder if there are enough of us with the political, much less the pesonal courage to step up and reject this path we are on...And make the critical course correction???
I have my doubts...
